Default Matty Price Spike?

Not sure if it's because of the nice appeal of the front, or because someone needs it for their collection, but doesn't $521 sound high for a white cap Matty?

Underbidder looks legit to me, not a shill. Plenty of guys do that one bid at a time thing.

I'm with you, think price seems high... And bid history doesn't seem to reveal any smoking gun foul play. I do that one bid at a time thing a lot just cuz it's so easy now... But this does not explan why he'd go so high?!? Could've gotten a nice clean 3 for that

It's obviously downgraded because of the back only -- front looks much much better than a 1. That in all likelihood explains it.

I think the reason for the high price is because of the SC factory 25 back.

Yeah, some people assign a high value to cards with an extremely nice front. I've been blown out of the water a few times bidding on such cards when I've tried to pay "POOR" prices.

Nice looking card and the toughest Matty T206. Two people wanted it, thus a high price. It happens all the time. A good seller to boot. It looks like the winner
actually pays the highest prices.

Still seems very high to me.. I get the nice front, bad back sentiment, but would expect the MattyWhiteCap equivalent quality of the MattyC SGC"1" Ruth rookie to justify the price. Lots of nice ones, with backs, go for less and it wasn't one of those freak instances when two simultaneous snipes drive the price... The buyer walked it up very methodically.

That said, if he's happy with it, I'm happy with it, and more power to him

Yeah, it is defintely still abnormally high. I remember once about a year ago a guy listed a bunch of t206 with very nice fronts and completely torn off backs. I offered like $75 or something for his Lajoie bat, and was told that he just sold it for $185. So, there are people out there that like to pay 2 prices for this type of card.

Seems very high to me. Winning bidder has bid relatively exclusively with this seller 47%. Something stinks. I have a psa2 if anyone wants it for 2,000. Anyone?

Default Time To Sell?

Maybe I should contact the underbidder.

What does/does not constitute relative exclusivity? The bidder's 44 bids in that auction alone skews the numbers. The bidder has 0 bid retractions which speaks volumes in my mind.

Peculiar, yes. Nefarious, I don't think so.

I have no explanation for the high price. That was my auction.

I started another post about 15 minutes ago regarding what happened after the auction ended. .I didn't realize this post was going on.

This buyer sent me an email 45 minutes after the auction ended and told me that he no longer wants it. He said that he bid on the card by accident. I questioned the buyer how do you call it an accident if you bid over 30 times.

Waiting for their response.

That's a joke. Sorry to hear that! Was hoping that you sold it for that price! I don't know how that was an accident though...

Hope he didn't read this thread and change his mind. If so, I'm sorry for possibly contributing to that result.

Sometimes threads on this and other forums instigate issues but I think that is just the nature of chat boards in general.
