Default 1988 Big Topps - what pages to use?

I was going to get the 8-pocket pages for the 1988 Big Topps horizontal set, but when I measured the card I saw that the long side is longer than the max dimensions suggested on the 8-pocket box.

Have any of y’all put the Big Topps in pages? What did you use?

Thanks!

The cost of sheets is probably more than the set is worth!

I would have guessed the same 8 pockets that held the 52-56 Topps/53-55 Bowman would work for those, but I guess I have probably never held the two different sets together in one sitting.

Thinking the 80s police sets are probably around the same size. I have put those in 4 pocket pages myself, but those pockets are way larger than the cards themselves. Do they do a 6 pocket layout (3x2)? That would be closer.

Yes, like many 80s sets, the pages cost more than the cards. But I like this set. I like the modernized ‘56ish-ness of it. I like the cartoon backs. It was a Topps early attempt at a premium set - glossy, higher quality control (almost no centering problems to speak of), smaller in number so a higher percentage of top players. I was hoping the 8 pocket would work because it would be ideal for horizontal display.

Love the Topps Big cards. Like others, have all three years sets in 8 pockets that fit the mid 50’s Topps cards.

And they’re great for autos.

I guess this outs me as a post war only collector . I only collect one pre war set, the 1923 Fleer set, and only because I have sought to complete runs of Bowman and Fleer sets as well as Topps

You might know my only pre war set would be auraless

"1988 Big Topps - what pages to use?"

The funny pages, of course.

8 pocket sheets work just fine, and are a great way to enjoy the cards.

Nice cards Ray. Do you think the population of graded Bigs may now be virtually frozen ?

For sure. The only graded Big you can hope to make some money on, albeit, a small amount, would be the Bonds and that's only if you score a PSA 10. And that's not so easy on cards from this set.
I've tried.
