Default October Pickup Thread...

It's late, I'm tired, perfect time to post a card of the notorious "Sleepy" Bill Burns (Ol' Sleepy couldn't even get his glove on properly). Thanks Larry!

Default '41 Play Ball toughie...........

Been looking for a decent '41 Play Ball Eddie Miller for some time. Thought this would have graded at least a PSA5. The centering is spot on, and the color/registration is superb. The reverse is spotless, centered, with very bold, black type. I'll keep looking, but I'm very happy with this card in the meantime.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, Anthony. According to haulsofshame.com your Wonka McDonald T206 was one of the items taken in a burglary at the home of collector Lionel Carter a few years back. (Is the FBI reading?) I feel your pain, brah.

No chance it's stolen, David. I bought it from a former white rapper with financial problems in the New York Public Library broom closet.

i have been out of the hobby for almost 20 years after getting burned on a card advertised in SCD. i used to think i had a nice collection and knew a lot about T206 until i discovered this site a few weeks ago. you folks are amazing with your collections and your knowledge.

i think i caught the T206 fever again. Back in the hobby for only 2 weeks, but it has been a pretty good 2 weeks. Thanks to my wife Jeanette for giving me Gaspar and Davis as a gift.

Default Picked up a few players from the negro league

Caramelos are Minoso, Dandridge, Garcia, Daniels, Davenport, Serrell, and Clark.
Toleteros--Gerard and Acebo--Max Manning

I haven't seen many of these and they are fun to collect.

Best wishes,

Joe

PSA spelled Byram's name wrong, opting for "Bryam." Nice.

I've been looking for the rumored Wonka McDonald Buyback card for years as well. Let me know if you ever list on B/S/T board...

John - Nice T205 McConnell Buyback still waiting to get my wins.

Get well soon to all those with medical bills. Hopefully you will be back to winning (and paying for) ultra rare high grade cards in the near future.

Thanks Jason. I'm not working on a Sov. set, but I am working on a low grade set with particular attention to the backs. So far half of my cards are Sovereign, but I really just want a nice mix of different backs.

Some pick-ups from a local non-sports card show. I'm making more purchases from these small shows than I have been at the Philly show...

Nice card, Bob! I have a lower-grade McGinnity from this set (I think it is SGC 20) - they are tough cards in mid-to-high grade.

Cheers,
