My understanding is that the real aren’t stark white and the bottom left T C G is supposed to be larger:

OP, you do see the word "REPRINT" on both the slab and the back of the card, right???

You are correct. The slab listed on eBay is a fake reprint. PSA graded a ton of them. They will buy it back from you now if purchased.
The one on the left is the original reprint. The variety with the upward curving “e” was not in the reprint set. The fake is much brighter white too.

There's some fakes of the 1983 Topps reprint, which is fairly popular as the 'legit' reprint, even.

Wow, talk about being out of the loop. They're making forgeries of reprints?? Reprints??? That is something I never could've seen coming.

Seriously, it’s a weird hobby sometimes. I thought it was a joke when I first heard about them, but it’s a real thing. Faking reprints. What’s next?

I guess technically it is not a fake reprint. It is just an unlicensed unauthorized reprint. Darren— surely there needs to be some hobby terminology for such cards

I can offer up this relevant coming attraction from my 'New Collectorisms' thread...

Counter-refitter
A swindler who is able to seamlessly insert a phony replica or reprint card into an authentic slab to replace the valuable original he removed.

On the fake reprint, the "Record with" line is shifted significantly also.

Snap up those old Dover reprints now, boys. The pumpers-and-dumpers are about to move in on the next "smokin' hot trend" in the hobby.

Authentic Reprints!

...

$#!T, now that I've said it, I can actually envision this happening.

Card sold last night for $349.99.

Does this no go through the ebay authentication?

Front slab pictured # 65475500
Rear slab pictured # 65475497

Both front are rear, although different cards, are fakes.

Thanks for posting. PSA has known about the fakes for years. My guess is new graders. At least they reimbursed me, but who knows if any of the new buyers read forums to know what they actually bought.

But take a look at the cert number listings of cards right around the ones you submitted. When they reimbursed you, they were aware they have graded dozens of others in multiple submissions, probably by the same person. PSA could have recalled them all at that time, and done the right thing.
But they never do. They just let the cards circulate until each individual wronged customer comes to them individually. And they likely still accept submissions from the same fraudster. Love it.
