Default Lorillard Question

Posted By: david

These cards rarely come up for sale. Cards can be found with either a Climax or Spendid adverstising but I have never seen a Detroit with a Climax back. Are certain teams only found with one advertiser or have people seen cases where a team card can have either back.

He's referring to the four 19th century Lorillard team cards. I never thought about his question, so I can't be of any help.

Default Lorillard Question

Posted By: leon

Hi David,
I used to own this one shown so we know that Detroit came with Splendid too. I am not sure I have ever seen a study on the different teams with respect to their tobacco ad that is on them. If I had to guess I would say that, since we know at least one team had mulitple types of ads, the others did too. Maybe some folks that have them will chime in...though they are fairly scarce so the crickets might start chirping on this request...

Default Lorillard Question

From my experience the Detroit and Chicago teams are more common than the others (although none can really be called "common"). All Chicago Team cards I have seen have the Climax advert. and all Detroits have the Splendid. I believe one of the other teams has an ad for "Rebecca's" which is another of the Lorillard brands.
