Default Opinions on this piece

just picked this up. Thought it was cool, but have no idea of origin. Its a Falstaff lighter, by Park, w a Pee Wee Reese name on back. I figure its inscribed, as it is in transit. Anyone seen one? thx. Scott

Interesting. As you may know, Falstaff was a St. Louis brewery. They later expanded to Northern CA, among other places. They were BIG sponsors of the Giants in the Giants early SF years. I don’t know of any Falstaff/Dodgers connection. Pee Wee was born and died in Kentucky. I have seen and own some lighters with facsimile signatures but can’t explain why Pee Wee would be on a Falstaff lighter. So, I guess, you can thank me for nothing.

A cursory google search tells me Falstaff sponsored CBS' Game of the Week around 1963-64, to which Pee Wee Reese called games with Dizzy Dean. They produced various advertisements including a postcard in 1964 (not mine) seen below.

I would imagine the lighter is on the spectrum anything from a promotional tie-in item to a product Falstaff gave to Reese himself?

The “duh” was directed to me! Not you, Scott.

I’ve never seen those lighters but Falstaff must have provided them while Pee Wee was in their employ.
