Your model rear mount Wrigley seat WAS one model that was also employed in The Polo Grounds. (Note: A second rear mount style seat was also used in The Polo Grounds over the years as well). Conversely, both parks painted their seats dark green, so you can understand how some people might get confused. With that said, a middle row (non-figural) Polo Grounds seat in all original/unrestored condition can easily fetch a grand plus these days .... and possibly/probably more if condition is very good. The current value of your Wrigley is roughly half that amount, as Mr. Ozie eluded to earlier. So, while the guy you bought this seat from might have made an honest mistake ..... its also plausible that he knew exactly what he was selling you and intentionally misrepresented it in order to make more money on you. May I ask you if you paid more than $500.00 for it, Mark?

Here's what I was told. The guy I bought the seats from got them from his grandfather who was an usher at Polo grounds. He said it was pair, but the one next to it had a crack in the cast iron. Took it to a guy who said he could fix it, and actually attempted to weld it with the wood in place and basically destroyed the other seat. He then separated them and kept the non ruined one. There was some major disgust when he told me the story. Could it be complete BS , sure, but thats what I was told. And If anyone is interested in it, let me know. It doesn't fit my collection

The guy's story is a GREAT story, Matt ..... but its just that .... a story.

The 'smoking gun' piece of evidence in the seat number. Wrigley painted its seat numbers white and in the exact size & font as your seat. Polo Grounds seat numbers were much fancier and a bit larger .... and more of a silvery-white, not white-white (see attached photos). The photos I attached show a triple Wrigley Field seat in all original/unrestored condition, courtesy of a 2008 Lelands auction. The other photo shows a few unrestored/all original Polo Grounds seat parts that are the same exact model as the Wrigley parts.

Note too that all original/unrestored Polo Grounds seats sport more of a 'Kelly Green' color than dark green.

Those are the three original colors that were in Met Stadium: blue, teal, green. I have them matched just about perfectly.

Great seat Ron. What are your plans for displaying/using it? If I recall you have a pretty wonderful stadium seat collection.

Well I guess that answers my question at roughly how much seats go for.

I'll make note of that, Ron. However, those may be the only things my kids will want from my collection, lol (as opposed to my 180+ autographed baseballs).

lol I'd rather see them go to your children. I hope one day my son will want all of my stuff but I still have a long way to go. 180+ signed balls is pretty impressive.

Does anyone know what stadium these boards are from? I have the back slats and seats that go with them but not the standards.

They are dark blue and the numbers are a sort of cream color, and painted on with a brush, not sprayed.

Thanks for your help!

Hey guys, I wanted to share pictures of my new stadium seat. It's not necessarily true "memorabilia" and it's definitely not vintage so please indulge me!

I currently own a Metropolitan Stadium and Metrodome seat I keep in my home office:

I want to complete the Minnesota Twins stadium trifecta so I reached out to the maintenance department at Target Field to see if they had any broken or unused seats they could part with. I was told all seats were kept for parts but the Twins kindly directed me to the seat vendor. So, for the past couple months I have been working with the seat manufacturer to create a "replica" Target Field seat. I haven't gotten it in possession yet but I got pictures of it this morning:

I had them make it Row 3, seat 34 to commemorate two of the best Twins players there have been. Anyways, I am so excited about it I had to share with people that might understand! I'll post pictures once I get it with the other two.

Default Seals Stadium Seat

Seals Stadium seat, the less common box seat version. I have another one in storage here in San Francisco. If you're interested in purchasing, and you can pick up the seat in SF, email me.

Thanks,

Mike

I believe that the blue stadium seat mentioned above could be from Briggs/Tiger stadium. If you look at Briggs seats they look very similar. I unfortunately forgot about this going off tonight but whoever won it got it at a pretty good price.

An "Arena" seat here, as opposed to a "Stadium" seat...
from the old barn on Maroons Road, known as The Winnipeg Arena.

These came out of a Chicago area horse track then inside to a small theatre. You can find them in different colors all of which have been repainted a number of times

Thanks Greg and thank you for all of the information on the Gilliam bat. Very helpful. The sticker I put on there myself, I actullay peeled it off when I went to a Yankees game way back.

Default Original 1923 Yankee Stadium Seat

Just completed the restoration on this Original Yankee Stadium seat I acquired a couple months back. This was my first time restoring a stadium seat and I am very happy with how it turned out! All wood and screws are original and I also left the screws unpainted so you can see their age. Custom built a home plate to mount it to for added support. Thanks to Al for the advice during this project!

Turned out great! I have done a few different stadium seats. When I get them they are usually in rough shape. I use a wire brush to take off the loose paint and repaint over that. I've seen people take them down to bare wood but then they look too new when they are done. You want them to look like they have paint over paint over paint because thats how old seats should look.
