Default November Pickups

Haven't been able to post one of these in awhile. I still need my same 3 but a nice size upgrade for me on Cole

Great dealing with you Phil, love seeing other N CA collectors out there.

Sold some cards recently, and excited to pick these ones up in return... especially excited to land one of the Uncle Jimmy Jimmies, though no idea why it's posting sideways.

Default Another D311 and T206 catcher

I went from not buying anything for months to buying a bunch of cards in several weeks.

Special thanks to Kris for the Mickey LaLonge D311 Pacific Coast Biscuit.

Thrilled to have finally found a presentable T206 Syd (Sid) Smith with a Old Mill SL back!

Wow, that Foxx is incredible. That's an India ink signature from a time when people cared about their signatures. I snuck in and got a 33 Ott and Hubbell while the focus was on that beautiful signed stuff. I hope whoever consigned these two cards knows how much I appreciate our mutual centering OCD.

I love that signed Jimmie Foxx, because it accentuates Goudey’s misspelling error.

Broke the bank with this purchase of 43 different 1933 Goudey cards. Am not chasing the set but I just love the cards, even the commons.

The Sweet cap just got added to my modest Matty dark cap back run. Would always be interested to hear what you might have to offer, on backs I don't have here!

Finally found a few things to purchase after a long drought!

Added another RPPC catcher, a T205 Cady with Polar Bear back, and a new T210 Hub Gilmore (Series 5.)

Those '33 Goudeys just pop, guys. Really nice. I got back into that set last year, picked up a bunch at the National and had a great time hunting down nice ones.

Sorry for not being prewar, but my only recent purchases. A couple of HOF upgrades. Sorta bummed about the cracked case on the Schuerholz. Apparently, happened during transit - not the seller's fault; bubble wrap packaging looked totally adequate. Oh well, the card is fine. Also, finally found a Type I photo of Milton Richman - the HOF sportswriter, who played briefly in the minors. Aw... executives!! (yawn)

Holy crap. Awesome month so far - two t227 Cobbs, tons of t213s, T206 HOFers and SLers. There are too many great pickups to recognize individually, but I must give a shout out specifically to the M131 Baltimore Newsboy... those are tuff! And Michael’s freak is totally awesome and unique.

Thanks Ryan,
I had to have at least one example. I'm assuming you have the Newsboy Cobb, one of the rarest cards in the hobby. Feel free to post an example of cardboard porn.

It's not pre-war, and they are barely cards, but they are still pretty cool, and likely, very tough to find. Here's a 1953 Globe Atlanta Crackers album, along with autographs. Gene Mauch is the manager at 26, Chuck Tanner is playing in the outfield, and Dick Donovan and Art Fowler anchored the pitching staff.

Nice everyone!

Great haul Chuck.

Congrats on 520 Jason, what a blazer to finish it off with!

I joined this forum last week, and I must say I definitely have an obsession now. Thank guys! My newest pickup is this 1934-36 Diamond Stars Al Simmons. It's in ROUGH shape, but the price was worth it to me...as long as its an original.

I am new so I don't know, but is there a certain forum to post if you want other members feedback as to if a certain card is authentic/orginal?

Nice set with some interesting looking art deco styled cards. Congrats on the card. If you're looking for feedback on a card people seem to typically just post on the main board as long as it's pre-war, similarly to this thread.

Thank you for the input! Its amazing how fast you can become addicted to something. As a matter of fact, I have a couple envelopes waiting for me when I get home today....

I've been doing alot of reading and listening to The Monster Podcast. I love all baseball cards, but pre-war feel like an equivalent to fly fishing over bait fishing, etc. Ive learned more about T206 cards in the past week, than I ever would've expected to.
