OT: Video replay
This clip is pretty long, but hilarious. I think this is the first time a homerun was determined after the batter was out on the bases.

If you have ever played baseball or have any interest in it, you really need to see this play. I have never seen anything like it in my 44 yrs of playing.....(since I was a tike). Unbelievable. This is the kind of OT I really enjoy seeing.

I wonder - if his fake swing had been left handed - would it have counted? Wish he had done a Fisk wave down the first base line...

That's awesome....
It's been a strange week. Now that fantasy season's over, my guys are all having lucky weeks. This Morse phantom slam, and the Bailey no-hitter...I'd have been unstoppable...lol |

Truely bizzare. Next thing you know Roosevelt will win the mascot race!
Seriosuly, I'm really curious as to why he had to return to home plate... |

He should have done a Babe Ruth homerun call pointing to the outfield before the phantom swing. That would have been classic.

On the road? Don't think so
You can see Molina prompting Morse to take that swing. After the Philly episode earlier in the week with Werth not throwing the ball to the kids in the stands, I think Morse did the right thing by keeping it sort of low-key. If he'd been in front of a home crowd, he might have hammed it up a little more.
(BTW, Morse was the good guy in the whole Werth incident, passing out a bag of balls to the kids in the front row.) Bill |

I was thinking the same thing Ron. Good thing the phantom pitch wasn't high and tight.
