Default N184 - Is It Just Me?

That thinks this batter is not trying to the best of his abilities?

Default This is why hes a Champion Baseball Batter

He had perfected the No Look style of spinning 180 degrees at the last minute catching the fielders asleep. Had to take a few in the head before he got it down however.....

My first thought was…..Mickey Tettleton facing the wrong direction.

Loved it when he swung…..hahah

Early incarnation of Spider-Man with spidey-sense.

Obviously he ignored a cardinal rule of all batters...do not let the crowd distract you while at the plate.

He was too busy arguing with the ump about the previous pitch.

You could have the first documented case of the quick pitch.

All great answers, guys. I think someone might have called his name. All these years of seeing this card and I never really noticed it.

I think he is looking ahead to 2022 in disbelief that the best player on one of the best teams in baseball history is not in the Hall of Fame... either that or he took the last pitch in the nuts..

That's what he gets for showboating after that long drive he got all the away home on.
It's a sport for adults, that gleeful dance has no place in it.

That's not O'Neil. That's a really young Hughie Jennings taking yet another one for the team.

Fun fact. Hughie had 3 full seasons where he had more HBP's, then he had Walks.

He also has more career HBP's then he has Strikeouts.

Still might not be as impressive as Ron Hunt throwing his less then menacing plate presence in front of 50 pitches during a much harder throwing era in 1971.

Some of you are probably too young to remember, but in 1888 you never swung away with a 4-0 count.

It’s an early Mike Hargrove card, and the pitcher finally gave up waiting

Reminds me of something I read in "Ball Four".
