Default Bliss card found in recent collection

From the research that I was able to do on this card one of these was sold on eBay for $330 back in 2012. Does anyone have anymore insight on it now a decade later?

My recollection is that I owned that card, or one like it. I think I outbid one of the well known members on here on ebay. I think I paid like $900. I sold a few years later with a small auction on here and assumed he bought it. He had another player from whatever this boxcut looking set is, Franck Chance maybe?

I'm just about positive that I am not the person involved in your transaction. I acquired this Frank Chance card maybe fifteen or twenty years ago. Can't remember any details. Didn't know what it was then, didn't know what it is now until I saw this thread.

Quarter for comparison if Leon were Canadian.

Very cool!
Thank you for sharing!
It’s funny that I never had seen this card before a few days ago and now I can’t stop trying to find out more info on it! 😊

Would you ever consider selling the Chance?

David, it was r337man, DanM, that posted about a card from this series on here. I think he had a Frank Chance. A Bliss popped up on ebay and I had a high snipe that won it. I sold the Bliss, I think with Scott's auction. Either there are multiples of these cards, or Dan sold his 2 cards, which are the cards in this thread?

The picture that I had from the 2012 thread is this one. Definitely a different card then mine.

I checked "Bliss" in Brockelman archives and did not see it. I thought I sold it with them, but maybe not.

I will check around and see if I can find an image of the Bliss card I had.

Default Cut from notebook cover

I have seen a variety of these over the years. I remember seeing a Chief Meyers example years ago as well.

Here's one on eBay currently.

Do you have a link to the 2012 thread on here? I'm thinking it was longer ago that I was posting about buying a Bliss on here. I can't find any trace of the one I had.

I thought these were one-offs, but it looks like there are a number of these.

Patrick, that Wagner is cool, thanks for pointing it out. A Meyers too.

Bresnahan managed the Cardinals from 1909-1912 and the Cubs in 1915, so I'm thinking this issue is somewhere from 1909-1912. Also, Chance last year with the Cubs was 1912, and Bliss' last year with STL was 1912.

I called it "boxcut" because I remember the card being kind of thick, but I guess a notebook cover makes more sense.
