Default Why is McGraw always shaking hands?

Not to sound like Jerry Seinfeld, but did you ever notice that in most pictures of John McGraw he is shaking hands with somebody (fellow players, opponents, opposing coaches, dignitaries, etc.)? I think at least one of his T206 cards should have had him shaking somebody's hand...

Did you ever notice that Peter Chao shook a lot of hands?

Just kidding!:>

Anyway, I really like your username ...clever!

My take on John McGraw is that he has the most cards that show unique portrayals of him..in fact if you line up 9 different issues you might think you have 9 different guys...they simply don't look like the same guy to me. Granted, many of the caramel cards are artist renditions, but even his T205 doesn't look anything like his T206's or even less like his t207 for example.

Now his 137Th birthday isnt until next week, but we could still show some scans of him! Here's one I mentioned...

Love that Roto, David (and I know I am not alone).

Here is one of the early W600s with a young looking McGraw.

Default he was a nice guy?

He was always shaking hands because he was a nice guy!! At least while he wasn't calling for a fly ball......Note this card actually looks like him which isn't always the case....

And an example of McGraw shaking hands, with ex-Wolverine Ned Hanlon. Photo dates to October 1922, just after McGraw's Giants won back-to-back World Series. The success of many of Hanlon's players such as McGraw helped him reach the HOF.
