Is This Ken Wall Lou Gherig cardboard add real
How can you tell a reproduction from the real thing?

Modern piece. All of them with metal eyelets are modern. They seem to always be beaten up and stained, which suggests deception is often involved.
I can tell you that the eyelet ones have a dot print matrix throughout the entire front, while originals would probably have areas of solid ink, such as at the bottom lettering areas. I've never seen a real one and it's possible there is no dot matrix anywhere in an original. Last edited by drcy; 11-12-2014 at 07:17 PM. |

Has a real/authentic one ever been verified? I thought these were all perhaps "fantasy" pieces, produced at a later date.

I was under the impression there never was a vintage cardboard ad and that these are all modern fantasy pieces.

It's a known fantasy piece - regardless the one showing has many of the signs of not being old. I had never heard about the eyelets.
