Can’t compare this vaccine distribution to that of polio. At all. They aren’t even remotely similar.

My wife works for a doctor and is getting vaccinated this afternoon. I'm retired and "only" 64, In decent shape with no underlying conditions, so I'm perfectly content to wait my turn.

Default Vaccine

My wife works at a Nursing Home. They are finally getting their vaccines tomorrow. A team from Walgreen's is coming in and giving the vaccines to all of the patients and all of the employees.

Default Austin TX Area

My Mom is an ICU nurse in Austin, TX and was vaccinated about a week ago, so 2 more weeks or so until the second shot. She had the Pfizer vaccine. No issues, described it as similar arm soreness as you'd have with a flu shot.

My wife and I received an email from our doctor's office (maybe 2 weeks ago) that stated they will be responsible for prioritizing their patient's pecking order based on occupation, health conditions, other risks and we will hear from them when it's our turn.

We live just North of Austin in Cedar Park.

I meant to say Smallpox, I have my years mixed up. I know it's radically different, there are more strains of this virus it's mostly just wishful thinking on my part though. I'm just asking for a comprehensive plan that every state would follow. It feels like we're all lost at sea. No guidance.

I care little for what side of the aisle the plan comes from. We need to come together as a nation and figure out the best form of an attack to put an end to this pandemic.

I've been expecting them to make a dog's dinner out of this whole thing and it seems that's what is happening.

I have a preference for the Moderna vaccine - if I can get it.

At 72, with a penicillin allergy, I'm trying to find info regarding whether I should be concerned with a negative reaction - lots of luck.

In NJ it seems I'm in group 1c. When I'll be able to get it seems to be up to "vaccine availability".

Meanwhile I read three days ago that 70% of the vaccine supply New Jersey has been given has not been used!!

I have a friend who's a nurse in Hawaii and connected to the Police Dept. 60% of the cops turned down the vaccine. Unbelievable.

We asked our pharmaceutical companies to come up with a vaccine in record time, and they did, the Federal government funded their ability to do that. The least the States can do is pull their head out of their ass and take care of their States citizens. I live in the highest tax state (ca), not one public service announcement or public health text, no plan for distribution at all. These are people that our state tax dollars pay for their jobs and cushy retirement benefits and yet when they are called on to do their jobs they fail miserably. And people are still dying at an alarming rate. Shame on them all.

Bit of a cluster here in TN as well. My county has been doing frontline medical workers and first responders. Supposed to be starting vaccinations in congregated living settings this week. They closed up the drivethru sites they had because people that weren't supposed to be getting the vaccine yet were getting them. They're retooling their plan on that front, and I have hope they'll get it sorted out (though not a ton of hope).

As for me, the current timeline has me somewhere between March and May, based on how many vaccines they get. I'm young, but fall into one of the comorbity groups.

Best wishes to all of you guys. Hope everyone is staying safe and we can enjoy a nice second half of this year once they've vaccinated a ton of people.

Spoke to my friend in Hawaii yesterday, he is a shrink so a Doc...he works online only. He got a call from the county to come in for a shot, then a follow up from the CDC. Does he really need a vaccine?

I would think it more important to send the vaccine to these hot spots and try to get as many people in those areas instead of a person on a small island of Kauai with no cases.

Seems all messed up

Exactly. Shouldn't these be given to the most vulnerable first? I am 56 and in good health with no comorbidities so my survival rate, if I even get it, is at 98%. Please tell me why this is being given to healthy young people and not those who are at the highest risk? Many in the health field are refusing it, and to be honest, I don't blame them. I'm not even 100% sure when it becomes available to me that I'll get it, especially since some medical professionals are refusing it.
I don't know about anyone else, but I feel this vaccine was rushed through with very little to no info on what some of the long term affects will be?

I live in East Tennessee and our county, Sullivan, said they would take phone calls starting yesterday at 8 A. M. Well, it took me 3 hours but I finally got a "Leave a Message" recording which was o.k. because I thought they were going to assign #'s like a neighboring county did. Found out later people had been lining up early to get shots and the county had run out of the vaccine. So much for calling in and for people over 75 getting shots. I am 79 and my wife 75. Then in the paper today they said drive up and line up and we will give shots until our 400 doses run out. I have no idea when we will be able to get ours, am going to try the "blind" drive up and see what happens. One problem I see is, if we get a first shot, how long and when we will get our second one.
My daughter was us to join her in Myrtle Beach in May so hope we have ours by then.

Jim, best of luck to you and your wife from the western side of the state. I hope we can right this sinking ship we’ve all been riding, and I hope you and your wife get to enjoy Myrtle Beach when May comes around!

Perhaps your governor is too busy planning his next meal at the French Laundry.

How many of that 60% already had it? I would guess a good amount. In that case turning it down is noble, not crazy.
