Default Jersey City Cards

I may be switching my focus around a little and have a question in hopes that someone can help me.

I'm thinking about collecting a certain team and any issues that team has. I'm interested in the Jersey City teams and I know they have cards in several issues dating from the n172 Old Judges up until the t206 series.

If anyone can shed some like on this for me I would be very appreciative. I'm looking for cards ranging from the 1870s-1930.

Feel free to show the cards mentioned as well...

Thanks
Travis

Here are the 3 Jersey City cards that can be found in T213...(from sets I'm working on)
t213jc128.jpg

t213jcb129.jpg

Lipset's Encyclopedia is a good resource for team collectors as it lists the team designations in the checklists.

Here are some estimates, may be incomplete, for JC cards from these series....
T213-1=0
T213-2=2
T213-3=1
T214 = at least 1 Wiltse JC
T215 = (Pirate back only) Purtell
T216 =0

Default Jersey City Skeeters

The T201 set has 4 cards from the Eastern League. Rochester, NY - home to Factory 649, Revenue Disctrict 1 as well as the Eastern League Rochester Broncho's was 1 of the 2 factories that produced Mecca brand of cigarettes and included cards printed by the ALC. One of the 4 other EL teams included in the T201 set was 1 card for the Jersey City Skeeters (Abstein/Butler).

I do not have a scan at the moment as I am traveling. I hope to have an article on the set finished for inclusion in the Fall edition of Old Cardboard.

Hi Travis,

I've been collecting Jersey City stuff for a few years now. You can see my checklist of all the cards I know of on my blog here. The checklist, which doubles as my wantlist, is in the right border. Just scroll down a bit until you get there. There is also a few links there to Jersey City Skeeters places on the web.

I'm always looking to add to my collection, but the Jersey City cards that I still need just don't show up all that often. You should be able to get all 4 T206's, the T205 and the T201 pretty easily.

I've attached a few scans from my collection for you to view.

Let me know if you have any questions about these cards.

This is a Cabinet Photo I picked up a few years back of a couple JC players in spring training in Bermuda.

Of course I wish you the best in your journey, but I wish you would pick a different team so I don't have competition for my Jersey City stuff!

Best Regards,

AndyH

I've been to Jersey City recently Travis and I'd like to know why you want to collect that city too!

BTW, what is Big Bill Abstein doing on that T201 card? I get the one boxing glove, just don't know about the rest

Ouch. That's too blurry. How can I make it clearer. I PM this to Travis and I think it looked better.
