I have gotten a lot of flack for purchasing this card. Funny how people say it is a "generous 2"? Have you actually seen the PSA 1s? They are so cracked and ripped, his face is barely able to be seen.

As with anything of this value...it is plain to see that each grade is worth abotu $100 to $150K.

The appreciation on these have been unparalleled. With only one 8, one 5 and one 3...this may be the fourth best Wagner out there.

So criticize all you want. I am happy I won it and will enjoy it for many years. Thanks to those who have been supprotive?

I know of several unslabbed Wagners that are better. We need to remember that not all cards are slabbed, so making claims about being the best, or one of, etc isn't a real good idea since many great cards are in collection of hobbiests that refuse to get their cards slabbed. None the less, Wagner and is a Wagner and worthy of proud to be a owner of one no matter what the condition.

Yeah -- I have heard that before. That there are better ones not graded...but they are not saleable and no one would ever buy one without it being graded.

They could be fakes.

Thanks though.

There is a major collector with an EX example that chooses not to get it slabbed. I have seen it many times and it is most certainly genuine. Not taking away from the one you bought, but there are perfectly good unslabbed ones in the hobby. Most have of course been graded.

Like you even own that card. We both know that's Toni's card and it's sitting in Rome right now until I win it in the Yahoo auction.

Riggo;

Just curious as a fellow T206 collector I’m very jealous of your purchase. I only wish I could drop a quarter of a million dollars on a Wagner, you should be very happy with your situation. Much less care what a few board members opinions are. Wow I don’t know how you sleep at night….ohh wait I know with a freaking Wagner card under your pillow that’s right.

I assure you I own it. Have the paperwork. Will take $250K for it.

And again -- thats great you know so and so and I saw so and so... but the facts are --- good luck getting it sold -- it is not saleable inless it is graded.

Yeas I am happy. Was at the National and saw the PSA 3 and PSA 5. Was a difference between those and the PSA 2 -- but not that much.

The PSA 1s dont even look like him.

the ones I know of that are unslabbed that are better than yours, I would be buy from those indiviuals in a heartbeat as these gentlemen are beyond reproach when it comes to hobby reputation. I don't need PSa or anyone else to tell me a Wagner is real. I've been lucky enough to examine a few and if these gentlemen can't tell a real Wagner from a fake, then no one can.

I guess your refering to my "generous" comment. Didn't mean to offend anybody. I sure wish I had that card. Congadulations.

Nothing gets by you huh?

Yes it was. What gave it away oh I know the part where I said I was jealous maybe?

And you’re a bitter little man rubbing in the faces of many people here who cant afford most T206’s much less Honus Wagner. Belittling other collections, which you know nothing about. Cry your blues to someone else; I for one don’t care if your feelings are hurt by what people have said about your $200,000 dollar purchase. I only wish I could be in your situation so I too could be upset over my new PSA 2 Wagner and the comments that followed.

You also just posted about people here slamming your purchase. Then you followed up by taking shots at other collectors who don’t have slabbed cards (Wagner) for someone who doesn’t like people picking on their cards you sure just did a good job doing it yourself.

Wow were an angry little monkey with a PSA 2 Wagner aren’t we?

Wonka -- you are an angry angry angry person. Easy to sling when you dont have to do it face to face. Fact is -- if we were face to face -- I doubt you would be so bold -- me being a former Redskin and all.

Riggo, chill out, we're all happy that a poster has a Wagner -- and I'm not even jealous. Go easy on the rest of the guys, no one's attacking you. As for being an ex-Redskin, if you beat up any of the guys on the board they'll just hire Adam to sue your ass and take the Wagner as a settlement. So be nice.

Actually I would give you an opinion regardless of who you are, face to face or not.

Are you going to beat me up after school?

Once again this is a topic discussion board. Opinions are given good or bad, if you don’t like it I guess maybe it’s time to take your ball and go home.

Just for the record I’m bold all the time and not a Redskin fan.

The ONLY reason I thought it was a "generous" 2, was that I have PSA 1's that look better than your card. PSA seems to be "generous" with the high doller cards. Go look at that 1914 Ruth that's being auctioned by REA. Anyway, as we all know the Wagner is a fantastic card in almost any condition. Now maybe we can talk about something that actually matters.

If I owned a Wagner I wouldn't care if it was a 1, 2, or 3 I'd be proud. Who cares what John, Jay or anyone else thinks? YOU OWN A HONUS WAGNER!!!!
I won't comment on the grading of the card because I doubt anyone who has the coin to afford one really cares whether it's a weak 2 or a strong 1.

Congrats on your purchase. Be well Brian

PS Barry and Jay are correct, there are at least 3-4 vg to ex Wagners out there unslabbed, and they will sell graded or not.

Some of the old time collectors choose not to get their cards slabbed. Since they are not selling, they are free to enjoy their rare cards as they wish. Certainly if the time came to sell, they would be advised to have their rare cards graded. Grading is still a relatively recent phenomenon, having gotten popular in the last five years or so. Not everyone, including myself, is smitten with it. It doesn't take away from any PSA Wagner, but it's pointless to assume that if a card isn't graded something is wrong with it. That's a typical reaction if you see an expensive ungraded card in an auction catalog; but in someone's private collection, it's as the owner chooses. The population report is only that; an accounting of cards submitted, not a reflection of all known examples.

I am also aware of an ex condition Wagner in a private collection of one of the most knowledgeable people in this hobby. I am guessing it is the same one others are referring to here. I believe it was one of three ex condition Wagners that surfaced some years ago. One of the others was graded and received a PSA 5.

Riggo,
Your Wagner is awesome and definately nicer than any of the PSA 1's I have seen including my own. Congratulations on getting such an amazing card! Why are you willing to sell it so quickly?

who has the best untrimmed ,unbeveled one in our hobby ?

Riggo , unless my Evelyn Woodhead speed reading course has failed me, what I read into Wonka's comments were commeding you, I could be wrong. Basically it said that if you have the money for it , then you enjoy it.

I would buy another and be it least a 3....just so it doesn't rest alone. May as well have 2 of them.

OK, sorry I ever commented about the grade, geez.... It's a beautiful card. If I could afford it, I would pay 200K for it. I would then just stare at it constantly, & get my moneys worth for sure.

Riggo,
Great card much nicer that all on the 1s I have seen. I think it is clear that PSA has overgraded several Wagners including the 5 and the 4 both are about a half a grade too generous. Yours is an attractive example but belongs in a 1.5.

that perhaps we are being duped? This guy "Riggo" doesn't sound like someone who would have the ability to purchase a t206 Wagner. Unless K Whitmore played for the 'skins, I think this is just chain-pulling from a disgruntled scam artist.
