Default Info on glove, please?

Hello,

After reading the post about the Tornado palm glove and the crescent glove, I remembered I had an old glove with crescent-like padding. So, I went and dug it out and took a few pictures of it.

I bought this glove years ago and don't know much about it. As far as I can tell, there is no manufacturer's info on it (unless it is hidden). The glove has obviously been used but seems to still be in fairly good condition. There are no holes or tears that I can see and the leather (?) is still soft.

My questions are as follows;

1) Approximately when was the glove made? (My guess would be before 1920 because of the two strings between the thumb and first finger.)

2) What company made the glove?

3) What do you call this type of glove, crescent?

4) Approximate value?

Thanks in advance for your help,

David

Hi
Nice looking glove. It's a softball glove, most likely from the 1930's. It's hard to identify a manufacturer without any markings. There are few softball glove collectors but the value isn't near what true crescent glove would be. Most softball gloves from this era sell between 20 and 40. Best way to determine if it's a crescent or softball is to look where the padding stops and ends - on a turn of the century crescent it will run down the thumb to the base of the palm, not up the pinky. If it goes up the pinky, most likely a 30's or 40's softball glove. Hope that helps.
