Finishing up a 69 set. Down to about 40 cards but lack Reggie and Mantle. Also got into Salada coins (62). Topps coins never really interested me nor do the 63 Saladas but really like the portraits on the 62's. Probably gonna put together a 1970 Supers set and then figure out if I'm up to another regular Topps issue or not. Been trying to assemble sets since 1955 and down to a few.

Richard— why 70 versus 71 on Supers ? I like to have a pack with each set but not sure how to tell the difference between 70 and 71 unless you can see a player in the pack.

With the arrival of #6, AL HR Leaders, 1968 is complete. Bob Gibson gets the binder spine slot. 10 favorite cards in the set: Ryan / Koos rookie an obvious choice despite it being a duel player rookie card, which I hate. Seaver and Carew rookie cups are classic. Love that Yaz pose. Gibson looking Gibson-esque. McCarver looking like the epitome of the wholesome 60s ballplayer. Ricketts looking like the epitome of the 60s in those glasses. Etch looking like I don’t know what - maybe someone grandfather playing catcher? Love the blacked out hats on the A’s to block out KC. And B Rob and F Rob on the same card is classic - these duel player cards I do like.
Now to focus on 67 - which I’ve been making great progress on in no small part to many people on Net54.

Congrats on 68 Chris!
I like how you have different players in the binder cover. Mine all have Harmon Killebrew, my favorite player...then after 75 I went with Reggie Jackson. I think mixing it up may be more fun...I may rip you off on that... ![]()

Interesting note on the 1968 Oakland A's with KC blacked out, the Gosger card shows the helmet being blacked out, but not the reflection on the bill of the helmet: https://www.comc.com/Cards/Baseball/...Gosger/1829350

I am not a set collector per se, but have 1975 and 1980 sets. Am constantly upgrading my 1975 to NMMT. And have about 3500 1980's that includes 2 full sets and most of a 3rd. Occasionally, I'll get them all out and go through to make sure I have best of all options in set 1, next best in set 2, etc. I'm around #150-175 on that project, so a long way to go. When done, I'll have legit, centered NM - NMMT 1st set with a solid EXMT or better 2nd. None are in binders yet. |

For mine, I have an original card in the spine with a different Hall of Famer for each set. They're duplicate cards so they're not taken from the set. For 1952-1956 I use actual Topps cards but from standard size products

1955 Topps Doubleheaders: I always liked this set, but never got serious about collecting it until last years National Convention in Atlantic City. I picked up 19 cards for $150 or $8 each, and I've been adding cards since then. Todays mail brought three more cards (9/10 Porter Kipper) (33/34 Pendleton Conley) (53/54 Herman Amoros) in beautiful condition $20 each but tax $4.78 and aggressive shipping of $9.87 (ouch) pushed up the total. I'm 75% complete with 49 of the 66 cards (and needing most of the stars).

Good lucky Larry. When done check out the panoramic stadium pics when the backs are placed side by side in reverse numerical order

I said backs, I should have said fronts in reverse order. I did it once with my set but it is now all in a binder in numerical order. Someone, maybe Bob, once posted the panorama in a thread in here. Will try to find that

Posting here as somewhat of a reminder to myself that I need to get serious about my ‘72 Topps set again. I’m somewhere in the neighborhood of ~350 out of the 788 cards. I know, don’t ask me why I picked the “postwar monster” as the first vintage set I was going to go after by hand (I had earlier bought a complete ‘71 set…) when I’m not really a set collector by nature. But I do love the design, and the psychedelic team legends and colors. I have most of the stars too, just need to start looking at lots again…

I like that set and initially thought I would stop doing Heritage with that set ( but since decided to trudge on to 1975). For a time of I was picking every color variant I could find in the names and teams, mostly registration issues , but finally gave up. Still there are a lot of wild color swirls and quirks in that set

I really want to finish my father's collection from when he was younger, this is mainly 1959-1963, and I am getting pretty close.
Personally, I really want to focus on 1953 Bowman when I am finished. Either way, I also pick some random stuff up along the way but am obsessed about cataloging. But this is where I am at: Collection Summary Ferguson 1916 12.37% 1933 Goudey 2.08% Play Ball 1939 3.09% Bowman 1948 4.17% Bowman 1949 0.83% Bowman 1950 0.40% Bowman 1951 1.85% Bowman 1952 10.32% Topps 1952 3.44% Bowman 1953 Color 61.88% Bowman 1953 B&W 3.13% Bowman 1954 2.68% Topps 1953 2.19% Topps 1954 99.60% Bowman 1955 100.00% Topps 1955 1.46% Topps 1956 0.00% Topps 1957 2.46% Topps 1958 9.29% Topps 1959 100.00% Topps 1960 100.00% Topps 1961 100.00% Topps 1962 97.32% Topps 1963 92.71% Topps 1964 87.22% Topps 1965 37.96% Topps 1966 15.22% Topps 1967 25.45% Topps 67 Pin-Ups 100.00% Topps 1968 29.26% Topps 1969 76.51% |

I started collecting T206 cards back in 1989 at about $10 each, in poor/fair condition. Over the years I accumulated dozens of them, then scores of them, then decided to try to complete the set. Fast forward to 2020 (30 years later) and I finally completed the 520 card set (less the "Big 4"). I even purchased some of the high end and impossible find cards on here, net54baseball. The last two on my list were purchased here on net54 (Ray Demmit and Bill O'Hara - super expensive, even in fair +/- condition). Some of the high-end ones are graded of course, to ensure authenticity, and all cards range from poor to Ex+.
The cards are currently secured in a safe deposit box, and I visit them frequently, as it gives me joy to know I have done the near impossible, as well as knowing there can't be more than 300 complete sets on the entire planet, as 2 of the cards in the set are believed to have only about 300 in existence (then take away whom has just those cards (without completing the set), and I now likely have a set with less than 200 or so in existence!!). I have painstakingly used reference guides such as TuffStuff, t206.org, Beckett and many others, to create an Excel worksheet noting the cards, backs, prices, and so forth, and have it electronically (and physically) saved. According to price guides when I last valued them in 2020, it is valued at about $44,000.00. I think this is totally undervalued, as most price guides have really not kept up-to-date pricing on them. I have enjoyed this so much, but at my age, I think it's time to let it go (as a complete set), and let the next generation enjoy it, and potentially hand it down to the next generation. Well, that's my story!! While we're here, does anyone know the most correct, up-to-date price guide available (without joining something), and, whom to potentially reach out to, to sell it? I know there are scores of auction houses, etc., and I don't want to spend countless hours trying to deal with it, but a starting point would be good. Got my last card today to finish off my 1962 set. Red Schoendienst high number 575 was put in the binder today. I wasn't real thrilled with the wood design on the 62s but they gradually grew on me and the Rookie cards are kind of garish and expensive for even no counting the Uecker card. Now it's on to the 1963 set. Thankfully I have my Mantle card #200 and the Rose rookie.
