Photos used for cards

It's always interesting to see the photos that were either used for baseball cards or depict the same images. Here is a recent pick up....anyone else? (the card is only for comparison, I don't own it)

Leon...:I am amazed that Lou held that awkward pose for long enough to have the spectators in the back of your photo shooed out of the frame to allow the exhibit card image to be captured!

I believe this photo is the basis for a N167 card. Esterbrook's demise is quite a story.

Just noticed I have this one. It's interesting (to me) that they created the Fatima Leach photographic image directly from the negative, but modified the background. I once spent an afternoon in a friend's darkroom, watching him manipulate one of my black and white negatives to enhance various aspects, but never change the actual background like this.

I am bumping this nice thread because I had recently bought a photo of Cochrane that I thought was great early image. Couldn't get much earlier without going into his PCL days. I recently found that the image was used on a couple of cards. Both are not off the main path, but still cards using the image.

I recently picked up this 1928 Press Photo (International Neesreel), which matches the 1926-29 Exhibits and a few other Klein cards...







As an FYI, I'm always looking for more tint variations of Klein!!

Herb Pennock photo used for 1928 W504, Yuengling's, Tharp's Ice Cream etc issues. What's left of the caption on the reverse indicates that this was also the first photo of Pennock in a Yankee uniform. News accounts have Pennock arriving + suiting up at spring training in New Orleans on March 14, 1923.

The stamp on the reverse is Pacific and Atlantic Photos, Inc.

Love it. Here is mine; image is used for t205 Card. I have been building up an archive of these things from various sources/archives. I am trying to put the pieces together. I have about 60 percent of the set In type 1 paul Thompson photos. Obviously, it is probably impossible to complete(many are lost forever) but i will try.. and it will be both fun and maddening. If anyone has one/ or knows of one for sale, , please lmk. Ben
