I picked this up for $3 at a local antique shop today. I've never found or owned anything like this before so I'm pretty psyched. I actually thought the price tag said $30 and had no problem with that so $3 was a no-brainer. I don't care if this ever actually had a T206 in it. I just think it was a cool find.

So, a day after the Pirates had their worst loss in their history, a 21-0 one to the Cubs, I head to an antique fair and a flea market. At the antique fair, I was recognized by a guy I hadn't seen in about 37 years. We both grow the hair the same way now, which is not at all on top. I sought pre-war cards at both the antique fair and the flea market. It was a Pirate finish, but with a nice off shoot. Here are the off-topic pickups from the antique fair to help deal with the Pirates:

Thanks to fellow board members,
I have completed my E98 Hippo Vaughn Color Run. The 1918 Pitcher's Triple Crown Winner (as a Cub, BTW), part of select company; and tough common subject to the set. Woo-Hoo! Ben "I love baseball history backstory; especially when it involves cards." |

Recently received this Beauty from Donscards, it's my first 1934 Goudey. James "Tex" Carleton. I love the old Cardinals uniforms and the red background really made this card pop for me!

Congrats Kyle, and congrats to all the great pick ups this month. I'm always amazed at the pick up threads every month, is there any other group of folks acquiring such incredible cards every single month? I think not.
Net54 would win the pre-war card flipping contest hands down. |
