Default What a thread!!

Echoing what others haver said - just amazing cards from end to end, and certainly one of the most enjoyable threads of the year so far.

Here are my three faves today Don't think we've seen any T207's so far (what a surprise) ... someone has to stand up for that, right?

and Pirates because that's the only other collecting I do ...

Default W600s

Walter Johnson, Tris Speaker, Joe Jackson, Joe Wood, and Rube Marquard all started their major league career in either 1907 or 1908. They were not included in the SLC series. However only Johnson and Speaker became established regular players by 1910; the last year SL tried to revive their give-away cabinet card program by adding 57 new player names to the availability list. Johnson, Speaker and surely many other newer players were overlooked. We will never know how SL chose the players to be included in this series.

In researching the Sporting Life Publishing Company I contacted the Philadelphia Historical Society, the City Directories and the museums and libraries. Their only help was to furnish the Company's address changes through the years of its existence and the names and titles of the senior officers of the Company.

Some of the original content for my 2006 OC article was removed by the editor due to space limitations.

Do you still have the "unabridged" version of your article? I have all of the back issues from O.C. and have read that article more than once, but I'd love to read the rest of the article.

Just catching up on this unreal thread. Everything is awesome and the head is spinning. Just a few that stand way out for me:

M 101-6 Ruth from Craig. Nice!
TTT Big train from SB. Wow....wow.
The Waddell's from Jeff. Great cards.

Hope to see more!

Sorry Brian I don't have the original submission. However it dealt mostly with a comparision of the SLC cards and the subsequent T3 cabinet cards; it included an advertising photo.

Hilarious - that Spanky got spanked! Also love how it actually has "MK" written on to earn the qualifier. And then there's the issue of grading cost for a card that is less than worthless. Awesome in every way!

Cheers,
Blair
