Interested in thoughts regarding these two cards. Which one is the better buy right now and which one do you think has more long term potential? I like them both but unfortunately can’t have them both.

I prefer the Exhibit as it is an earlier card and much more rare. 172 pop vs 1800 pop for the #141.

My view is can’t go wrong with either. If one speaks to you more, go for it. I defend Goudeys all day as being works of art from a super popular set. But that 21 exhibit is just an amazing pose. And I think it works well as a card but also gives you a photo for the (hefty) price of one.

I much preferr the Exhibit, but the 144 is probably THE classic Ruth card by mainstream standards and if new money keeps flowing into the hobby, my bet would be on 144 purely from an investment perspective.

Same here, not a fortune teller as to which is better long run but could make an faithful argument either way. Go with your heart and your eyes, this is only a hobby.

I prefer the 1921 exhibit it.
However up until recently the 1921 was under appreciated and under valued. The 1933 Goudy is the Main stream "ICON CARD" so even with the greater quantities it tends to be the go to buy of collectors and investors. New investors/collectors will probably go towards it. As a result the 1933 Goudy probably will be the better "investment card". Both are great choices and since the 1921 has smaller stock levels the demand should also always be there

As it sounds like you are an investor, I would go with the Goudey 144.

I like them both, but I have the 144. It wasn't an investment when I bought it, and it isn't now either. I bought it because I liked it. That hasn't changed either.

I think both are great but I would go with the Goudey Ruth #144. If I had to choose one card that represents Babe Ruth it would be the Goudey #144
I would also try to find one with nice eye appeal that sets it apart from the others. I also like Goudey Ruth's because they are easy to sell and always in demand. You gave us 2 great options and it looks like you are on the right track. If you are eventually in the market for a 2nd Ruth I'd absolutely consider the 21 exhibit. |

Watching this 1921 E121 PSA 3 Ruth at Goldin ending tonight really makes the 21 Exhibit seem cheap relatively speaking. Granted the E121 is an iconic pose and lower pop but not sure it warrants more than double what a PSA 3 Exhibit goes for. Prob will be triple if not more when the auction is over.

I have made some bad buys in the past, but I was lucky enough to grab a "Babe Ruth" e121 psa 1 before Elvis left the building. I was hoping to grab the bird and montage one day, those used to be very reasonable, maybe they still are.

Thanks for sending those over. Looks like Babe holding Bird is getting more attention. I think people like those early Ruth caramel cards. Plus a psa 4 doesn't come around often.

People hang up over the pop differences between his more plentiful house y issues and his 1920 b&w issues. The 1920 issues definitely have rarity appeal, but in terms of appeal, imo, nothing matches the 1933 issues and his 144 is probably the best looking from 33 goudey given his full figure batting portrait. I get the fraction pop difference. But the pop for his 144 issue is small relative to demand and I would believe given the accessibility, aesthetics and popularity of his 33 issues, you definitely can’t go wrong with it. Or with any of his issues. Imagine if they made a 1915 Cracker Jack of ruth! That would be king! |

Will have to put a nice 144 or 1921 exhibit on hold for now. I stumbled across and have the chance to get a very nice 1925 champions exhibit ruth that I like much more. Very scarce and that batting pose is classic Ruth. Forgot it even existed to be honest and glad it was presented to me. Nearly impossible card.

That is true. I also rank the 1922 Eastern Exhibit, the 1926 and this 1931-32 movie issue as tougher than the 1925 Champions among single subject Ruth cards
![]() If you go to 4 on 1, this one is harder too ![]()

![]() Meanwhile, the PSA 10 1986 Fleer Jordan closed at $204,000. That’s tied with one in Goldin last month for the lowest sale in 2022, down from a 2022 peak of $360,000 in January, and down from $450k in April of 2021. Ruth Champions Exhibit is up 55.5% in 14 months, while 1986 Jordan PSA 10s are down 54% over the same time period. Hmmm….. |

Those were nice looking cards; glad to see collectors are buying the card raterh than the holder. The poor condition 1928, which looked like a 1 card, went for $3,012. To me that's even more impressive.

I was exploring the ideal of going Ruth, but tried to go under radar on the 1925 W504 toy novelty Yankess card (Gehrig RC) with Ruth
Nevertheless, i just placed a bid and went to sleep and got nabbed in extended bidding. Didnt know this item existed. Maybe someone here got it. I viewed the whole Goldin prices the other day, as mentioned the Jordan card may be experiencing a adjustment to the 85 Star card grading opening back up, thus making it the RC to have. Hate to hear what prices are at the Nationals.

Also while the 21 exhibit was ending at PWCC a nice SGC 3 144 goudey Ruth was ending at heritage. It was a really nice dead centered example. $15600 was its closing price
