When did you start collecting these?

Not making fun of you, but I have been sometimes smiling, sometimes laughing throughout my read of this thread, but the very first sentence is still the best.

As I got closer to the end I began feeling guilty about how much you've entertained me this morning, because there is such a potential for disaster here. I sincerely hope that you were somehow born with a great feel for vintage card purchasing - I'm sure it's possible, but that's a skill that took most of us a lot longer to gain.

In addition, I am having a vision of you showing up here one morning screaming through your keyboard, begging for answers, as opposed to simply telling us which baffling card you just dropped thousands of $'s on.

Good luck with this buying frenzy - I really mean that.

Again you are wrong...the 52 Topps Mantle had been on Ebay only for about 1 hour same as the 1887 Old Judge card and 99% of them except for the E90-1 Caramel Mike Mitchell all where almost new to Ebay.

I started collecting variations about a month go...yes I know a rookie...but I seem to enjoy it very much so I am continuing to do so....we all start somewhere and for me this was it.

The buying is over except for 2 cards the O'hara T206 variation and the Magie error T206 card....after those 2 it may be months and months before I make another purchase.

Did you switch back to the Mantle from the Dunlop?

Yes I did!!! Why? After reading here that the Dunlop was a rare card it got me wanting it over the Mantle simply because I prefer rarer cards over simply popular ones. I also read a couple of hours on the Dunlop on the net.

I think the threads are very worthwhile to read. Really shows who among us have negative/positive outlooks. Shows a lot about folks' personalities. Lay off of Adrian, he's having fun and learning. I'm sure many of us have gone on buying binges before, especially early on when the fever is at its highest. He will either burn out or become a valued member of the collecting community, let him find his way.
Just my 2 cents.

And if for any reason one card was cancelled I always paid the fees if any occurred!!!

Ask Brian at B&W sports cards I cancelled the E90-1 Caramel Mike Mitchel and was asked to pay 90$ I did so in less than 24 hours. I would not do otherwise...because I am honest and appreciate dealers who help me out.

Mine has a pretty bad looking back but since it is so rare I don't mind it.
You don't have to start a thread every time you make a purchase. As directed before there is a pickup thread you can use.

No, I am not wrong. The sellers you mention have items that have been unsold for months if not years in some cases. One has a hockey card that I was interested in back in 2012. The card is still there today. So what if the cards you "bought" were only just newly added. The hockey card I mentioned was also newly added at one time. I'm thinking OCD and collecting may not be the greatest combination. You are an impulse buyer. The fact that you couldn't wait for the coin deal to be finalized before going on a shopping frenzy illustrates this. Oh and by "finalized" I mean you actually have cash in hand. At the pace you're going you'll go through that $200K in no time! If that's ok with you then fill yer boots!

By the way I have had multiple offers for cards here in private and refused 99% of them....why because I was honest saying they where not what I was looking for or the price was to high. If I was one to waste peoples time I would have told them all that I wanted their cards and to list them on Ebay and then not pay....but that is NOT the case.

I have to say you are way to involved with your emotions with my purchases and paying methods.....these sales do not concern you in the least bit!!! I simply wanted to talk about cards not all the other crap!!!

I know my own personality and know what I can and can't afford....and always have food on my table and ALL my other monthly bills paid....oh yes and that my pet gets A1 treatment.

I make enough money not to worry about every little thing as you seem to do...you need to try YOGA!!!

Adrian,

What exactly do you think your reputation is? It might be something you want to consider.

My reputation is when I buy something I pay for it and that does not mean I always use the NORM when it comes to payment methods. I do not play games with dealers and yes some times I do change my mind for another card a dealer has that I did not know about before making my 1st purchase.

Some people actually like talking cards with me and a few don't that is always to be expected when dealing with human behavior. People ask for the truth then you tell them...then they feel they have the right to judge you....but hey humans have always been like (Always so quick to point the finger at someone else) that and this will not change. People ask have you paid for your cards yet....I say NO then all hell breaks lose that again is to be expected.

I get a lot of private messages with positive feedback every day so I know I do some good here!!!

Yes spoke to Brian (B&W sports cards) yesterday he was OK with it I told him I felt like I paid to much (2500$) but would be a buyer at 1500$-1750$ and that was that. I paid him his 90$ fees he owed Ebay and we are still on good terms. He knows I am a rookie with vintage cards and I make mistakes....he does not blow it up for more that what it is worth. He is not one to make a scene!!!

Adrian...Not sure how many times you will post while I'm typing this but since you made this post last night at 9:30pm you have posted 55 times! As it has been stated already, this thread could have been a good learning lesson about the t206 Murray card, but instead it is a multiple page thread of you attempting to defend your actions. You have to understand, most of us partake in this forum to read or talk about baseball cards..the history, variations of backs, ect..We don't come on here to see how many cards you have bought and then be told how much you spent on the cards. You are also way too sensitive..Every time someone comments you then have to post a response. Please, take a break, come back in a month or so..teach yourself some more about the cards before you make big purchases.

You brought your purchases to our attention in a DISCUSSION FORUM. What you, Eric and a few others don't realize, is that we're going to react by discussing this in any manner that we feel is appropriate (subject to communication rules placed by Leon).

Deal with it or don't post. Seriously - it's offensive to me when someone tells me that I don't have the right to post my opinion in a discussion forum. Last time I looked - opinions were a major part of discussion forums.

And if you don't like my opinion (above), tell me I'm full of crap - that's your opinion and your right as well. If I wasn't ready for a negative response, I wouldn't have just posted.

Adrian,

I think it's great you're doing what you want and you've put together a nice collection already. I've collected for 30 years and still don't see it an investment but a fun hobby when you know the history of the players, mfr's and advertisers. You are crazy as hell and your threads drive me mad but I'm the type that prefers that to the mundane so "do what thou wilst".

I just hope for your sake that you're not selling these cards at a loss in the near future or messing with someone elses livelihood in your rapid fire purchasing. You can always buy more silver and less cardboard.

Have fun,

sure here you go....it was the picture used when I 1st purchased the coin:

http://www.canadiancoin.com/document...1_auction2.jpg

I got more than 200 000$ for it closer to 300 000$....otherwise it would be highway robbery and my friend is very fair. To be modest this is the best coin to own as far as Canadian coins go has always doubles in value over a 10 year period.

But much rather have my house paid off and no more crazy interest rates from my bank.

And for those following my post stats this is magic post # 500!!!

I like this tactic - a thread within a thread to avoid the '2 new threads' limit

I loved that movie - it wasn't overproduced like '42', and had a much tighter script. Also, the casting for Maris and Mantle was spot-on.

It's always interesting to read board member's opinions on their favorite baseball movies - all sorts of variation as to what characteristics of a movie people like. I thought 'Bull Durham' was approaching rubbish status, but some of my friends who I respect heavily feel that it's the greatest of all baseball movies.

It was my 1st movie I watched about the Mick and truly a masterpiece!!!

I am looking forward to seen the movie 42 when it comes out for rent...I rather watch movies at my place than a theater.

Roger Maris is just to funny with the reporters in this movie....do you think you have a chance at Ruth's record...geez I don't know why not come ask me in a few months!!!

I really could care less what coins or baseball cards Adrian buys and sells, that's his business. What I don't like is that nearly every day he is the center of attention on at least one thread. As has been pointed out, he's posted 55 times here and has hit 500 posts in just a few weeks. I think it's time for a break.

He hasn't actually purchased any cards yet... So there's no nice collection to comment on yet.

He has already reneged on some deals due to feedback, from here, on his "purchases". I would lose my patience, as a dealer, pretty quickly... I've stopped commenting on how good/bad his decisions have been because of this. I'm not trying to bash Adrian's reputation, I just feel like there is a possibility that Adrian will never own any of these cards, he might get the cash in hand and decide on a completely different group of cards.

Correction I have cancelled the E90-1 Caramel Mike Mitchell after been told I paid double the price I would cancel anything in this world again and again if I found out I paid double the going price...that is not crazy that is just smart business.

And I do have in my hands 2 of my T206 cards the PSA 4 Mathewson dark cap and BVG 4 Walter Johnson. So yes I have some cards already in hand....and yes I actually paid for them....and yes they waited about a week to be paid as well. One of my cards is on my fireplace mantel oh and I forgot I have a few Old Judge cards that arrived late last week. So I guess we can start calling this a collection as they say!!!

Smart business would be doing the research before buying but who's counting?
