I was lucky enough to complete the 1955 Spic & span, 1941 Playball in 2008. I would like to complete a 1952 coca-cola playing tips set in 2009. Have a Happy New Year. Marc

I only completed a couple HOF subsets in 2008. I'm working on THE MONSTER (73% complete/PSA 4-6), 1941 Play Ball (90% complete/PSA 6-8), and 1952 Bowman (84% complete/PSA 8-9). I hope to polish off the '41 Play Ball and '52 Bowman sets in 2009........THE MONSTER is another story. I hope I live long enough to amass all the T206's except for the BIG FOUR. It's been fun.

In 2008, I finished these sets:
E93 - only needed Coveleski
E98 - only had two a year ago, that was fun!
R311-2 - only needed one
R314-A - only needed two
R316 - only need one
R332 - only needed Cuyler
1922 Exhibits
PC799 - only needed one
1950 Bowman Football
National Chicle Sky Birds

Thanks to many Board members and the B/S/T that made the above possible

Made some headway on the following sets and hope to finish them in 2009:
1923-4 Exhbits - only need Burns, Gonzalez, High, Holke, Piercy, Ruth, Simmons, and S. Smith
1925 Exhibits - only need Benton, Harper, Terry, and F. Williams
R311-1 - only need the Cubs
R309-2 - only need Cleveland Indians team
W517 - only need Cissell (Cleveland)
1941 Goudey - only need Warstler and Coffman
1907 Dietsche - only need Cobb fielding
Grignon - only need Chance, Sheckard, and Taylor
T200 - only need Boston NL, Detroit, New York AL, and St. Louis AL
Orbit pins (unnumbered) - only need Cissell, Earnshaw, Herman, Stephenson

Thanks Phil. I'm actually quite content with the cards that I have already acquired and will unlikely try to upgrade any. I've never been very concerned with condition, as long as the card appeals to me and fits into my collection goals. I suppose one of the nice things about being a HOF collector, is that you are never really finished - there will always be new inductees to go after, and quite possibly very challenging ones at that!

This year I completed the only set I was working on -- R306 Butter Creams -- minus the near-impossible Babe Ruth. Shortly after landing the 29th card to complete the mission, I decided to try to put together a master set: each card with a Sept. 1st and Oct. 1 back. So far that goal stands at 43 of 58 cards.

As for 2009, in addition to the Butter Creams, I'll continue to try to add to my Nap Lajoie/Cleveland collection. Not really a set per se, but fun nonetheless.

Good luck to all of you in '09.

Rob
