Barry or Mike,

Why don't you get a table in a private room at a restaurant Virtually all higher end restaurants have private rooms for business meetings or larger parties.

Barry--I'm in for Saturday but not Friday. Would suggest the pool room at the Four Seasons if you can get that. Great food and not too noisey.

I'm not in NY, but here in Atlanta we have the very affordable Texas Roadhouse. That might make Leon feel at home

I think it is safe to say that the Dinner should be on Saturday evening.....I think starting about 7pm would be great.....Also, Pat Preece just called me and said he will definitely be there. I think there's something he wants from me so that is where he will be so we can chat about it....A private room would be great and I have to believe for 10 or so people that a restaurant would do that.....The less noisy the better..Lets see if we can focus on the best quiet venue we can find....

I might suggest 6:00-6:30, but that's just me and I am only one vote.

And we're getting into the too many different suggestions mode, so I will let somebody just pick a place and I will make sure Leon and I are there.

i've eaten at the Pool Room @ the Four Seasons, and that's not our crowd, we like going to cool spots/steakhouses that are not too stuffy or pricey. Four Seasons will cost about $200 per head. we try to keep it more low-key then that.

i think the Brazilian Steakhouse Joe suggested looks great, will be tons of awesome food, and i'm assuming we can get a big table, and have a great time.

p.s. sorry Bary, no earlier than 7pm, please.

Michael- did you make a reservation for 7:00? The reason I am requesting earlier is Leon and I plan to head into the city early in the day to do some sightseeing (hope we don't have bad weather) so we will run down a little towards the end of the day. An early dinner would be preferable, and I think Leon feels that way too. However, if 7:00 is the only time we can get in then we accept.

The dinner is going to be at 6pm.....I will work with Jeff or Michael to find an adequate place. This is not abot voting this is about getting together and having fun.......If anyone needs to come at 7pm you are welcome to join us at that time....and unless Jim C or Michael or the Dorskind Group are paying then it won't be at the Four Seasons.....thanks again

Leon/Barry- that's all fine with me...i didn't make any reservation, anywhere yet...Joe suggested a brazilian steakhouse and i thought it was a good idea...as for the four seasons, i'm with you guys, too expensive and not the right venue.

p.s. 6pm works for me.

The Brazilian steakhouse sounds like fun and Joe has mentioned it several times. Why don't we at least put it at the top of our list, and I would be happy to have dinner there. Just a question for Joe- is it crowded and noisy on a Saturday night?

with the brazilian steak house. Pretty good food - and it just keeps on coming. You have to pace yourself.

BUT - keep in mind that this is Valentine's weekend. Restaurants are either booked up or are getting booked up quickly.
So - someone should call today and see if we can get a table.... and maybe throw in that we would like a quiet area (if they are able to accommodate)

Hey leon, why don't you schedule a trip to God's Country (Arkansas) this spring. I'll take you to an SEC baseball game (nothing better) 3 rows from the field 3rd base side and we can eat afterwards at Herman's Steakhouse (better than Morton's I've been to both) and talk cards. We might be able to get Kenny Cole, Shane Reeves and others in the area to join us along with other Texans like Scott B. etc. Who knows I might be able to introduce you to the next president of the United States' husband

I went on a Saturday night with 8 people.

They gave us a nice round table and I was able to converse with anyone at the table without feeling as though I needed to shout.

I would say that if a reservation is made.... we just ask (no matter what restaurant it is) for a quiet table. It is probably a popular request -and may not make a difference - but it is worth mentioning.

If you are not familiar with the restaurant concept.....
they give everyone little discs (like coasters, or large colgan chips) - one side is red and the other side is green.
Servers come around with fresh / hot / pretty tasty food and they look for green coasters....
they keep coming. you leave that thing on green and it gets pretty crazy after a while.

you will not go home hungry. Lets see who the last person to turn it to red is
And of course, you can turn back and forth (red to green, green to red) - if you just need to pace yourself.

Leon- we could look at "sites", but I think we want to see "sights." (okay, I'm a pain in the ass)

Joe- that sounds great, convenient neighborhood, and if everyone is fine with it, that's a wrap.

Well if you wanted to see where the World Trade Center used to be, we would be viewing a site.

But if we go to the Empire State Building, that would be sightseeing.

So on further review, I will give you a free pass on this one.

Just curious--This steak house appears to be in Manhattan. How is the parking situation? It's so expensive to park around Manhattan, but the Brazilian steak house idea is almost too tempting to pass up! For any of you who haven't been to one of these, you're in for a little taste of culinary heaven!

Jodi- parking can be pretty expensive- I took my car in last month for the first time in a while- I parked for three hours and it was $30. That was upper east side, so figure around $25 even in the 20's...but if you want to join us please do. Just let us know as we will need a head count at some point.

When do you need a confirmation on this end? I can't make any promises as of yet. Also, does anybody have a map to the closest parking garage? That would probably come in really handy for most of us.

Jodi- there are parking garages everywhere. I'm sure driving around in a one block radius you will find one. There could even be street parking in that neighborhood, but you have to get real lucky.

As far as confirmation Joe D. made the reservation for us so he can answer that one.

I don't have a good answer to that one.

Right now the reservation is for 12 people (which is more than we have by informal count).
I asked if I could change the number higher or lower as we got closer - and the lady was very cordial but also asked for me to call with the info as soon as we have it.

When is 'too late'? I don't know.

So, the sooner the better.

Can someone start an official list of 'YES's and 'MAYBE's - so that I can keep track as we get closer. (barry ? )

I was talking to my wife...
and well - she told me that porcao is NOT the restaurant we went to.

The Brazilian Steakhouse we went to was
http://churrascariaplataforma.com/

which is at 316 W49th Street.

So now here is my question...
should we leave things as is - and we all try out porcao?

Or should I look to get a reservation at Plataforma?

(sorry for the screw up )

It will be fine.... I have been to a few Brazilian Steak houses in Dallas. The quality of the meats are better at some than others. The best I have been to is Fogo de Cao.......the one we have reservations at will probably be very good.....though we might end up going more dutch to a place like this as the meal itself is not really cheap ....In Dallas a nice Brazilian Steak house is around $65-$75 for each person not including drinks....(after tip and tax)....I am sure this one will be fine...
