isn't TOO bad, but he does say something pretty idiotic fairly regularly. |

Last night when the Red Sox walked a batter in the 9th, he said that it was the same thing as a Home Run. I guess McCarver forgot about double plays. |

Howard Cosell = not just an announcer. An entertainer with a schtick? never seen before nor since (by me). |

but Dan Patrick was chiding Rob Dibble on ESPN radio the other day for watching game 5 on TV with the sound off. Dibbs did not deny it and said something like "please, you've got to be kidding, I actually heard Tim McCarver refer (in pregame)to CLEO Epstein as being the Red Sox GM". So Dibbs moves way up in my book. |

...is that we got to watch the MLB international feed with Rick Sutcliffe and Dana (?) O'Brian, instead of McCarver et al. |

T.J. Simers, one of their columnists, wrote a hilarious commentary about all the ugly people in Boston, the subtext of which was that Fox spent so much time shooting up the noses of fans rather than focusing on the game that it seemed like every resident of the city had screen time. At least in LA, when they show the crowd we usually get a hot chick... |

The only problem with the international feed is that we got endless ads exhorting us to buy Blue Jays seasons tickets on the changing ad screen behind home plate (ah, the wonders of technology). Being 2200 miles away, I managed to avoid such temptation. |

A sports columnist for my newspaper (Seattle Post-Inteligencer) wrote a column about how bad Fox coverage was. He was particularly annoyed by McCarver, onscreen scores and stats that exploded/had video game sound effects/moved across the screen, having 22 instant replays for a groundout and the dougout cam that usually showed half dirt and half an out of focus image of a distant player. |

the incessant plugging of bad Fox programming, particularly irritating when in the form of an animated scrawl across the bottom of the screen while the game is under way. |
