Only 31 cards. not that it should matter that much. Obviously they have multiple graders so a small order from a later date can pass a big order in the process, but still they should basically be completed in the order received regardless of size. They did a 500 card T206 order for me in the summer in 10 days.

They are all behind. My last 25 SGC was a week late in grades then another week to get the order back.

My current PSA 65 day order, turn around time? sent in early NOV is nearly a month late and counting . . .

My order finally looks like they are starting to work on it. More of the card identifications have been filled in, and the order of the cards has been rearranged. (I've been refreshing the app far too frequently).

However, the best item I sent in, an oversized card, is no longer listed......and the card id has been changed on the invoice too. I'm hoping this is just an artifact of watching the process too closely....but it feels odd.

I have a post-war submission that they marked as received today. Will follow up when I see progress being made on it.

I emailed SGC, and they said not to worry. And today my expensive card is back on the "We're working on it" list *and* back on my invoice. I wish they didn't mess with the original invoice - especially since they don't email you a copy when you pay. I feel the original record should be more sacred, as it shows the cards you sent them, and the values you assigned to them, with your payment - sort of an agreed upon contract. With them tweaking things on the original document, it feels like I've lost a layer of double-checking. As it is now, they've moved things around, so the assigned values don't line up anymore with the list of cards. Related to this, there's a handful of cards they are not grading this time, but I am not sure which they are since I don't have the original record to compare them to (and yes - I should print out a 2nd copy next time....)

Submitted: 2/15

23 card oddball vintage non sport order got there 3/4.

Popped yesterday. Hasn’t shipped yet but I don’t have any issues with that turnaround time.

I submitted cards at the Dulles show on Friday. The person I handed the cards to said they were not backed up and I should expect them back in under the 10 business days. We will see.

Grades completed and tracking number given a week after dropping off my cards to be graded. Not a bad turn-around time.

Doesn't anyone know if SGC holders the 1997 Autographed Willie Mays cards like the one below, since they were issued with the autographs on them? I keep thinking no for some reason, but is that the case? Was hoping to get it protected inside of a slab.

Issued with autographs means you are good to go. They will slab them.

Looks like SGC turnaround is back to normal. I had my 6 card submission graded and delivered to the UK in a week.

Jun 24 Cards delivered by UPS
Jun 25 Cards marked as received by SGC
Jun 26 Cards graded
Jun 28 Post Grading completed
Jul 01 Fedex Delivery

That's pretty darn impressive.

I actually did my first SGC submission of a 1981 Tennis Magazine card on 7\13 and still waiting. Mostly due to the fact that the company has never graded one of these. We'll see what they say?!

Even a two month turnaround time is light years ahead of PSA. Guess we should be thankful, huh?

I submitted mine 4/4 at Chantilly, realistically they got them back to grade 4/9. Currently still in post processing.

SGC busier than ever? I thought they were dying and getting phased out lol.

Walkthrough Received and turned around today (Got a number of emails, all at the same time - receipt, refund, and tracking) - was too fragile to slab, so that more than likely influenced the turnaround.

Default SGC processing times

HOF Forever- You and I are in the same boat, my submissions from the
Strongsville show were also 4/11. Just today I got a note on my SGC account
that the cards were graded May 19. Neither the grades nor the photos show
on the dashboard yet, though.

SGC definitely exceeded their turnaround time on this one. I'd estimate I'll
have the cards in hand just after Memorial Day. Not a disaster, just out of
character based on previous interactions with them.

Trent,

Looks like I spoke it into existence. My submission changed to Post-Grading yesterday. Still no pictures or grades but at least it's progress.

I also had a card damaged in last submission and it’s pretty clear cut because it was a Reholder. They did major damage to the border of the card and fortunately I had scans before I sent it. Waiting to see what they are going to do to mitigate. Fortunately I claimed the value and it was in a sealed SGC slab so not sure they can dispute it.

Anyone have any experience with this? My first reholder damage claim.

For both the damaged cards mentioned, what type of cards?

That is concerning about the recent uptick in damaged cards. I saw two posts on FB this week about the same thing. What is going on in Boca?

My National order is shipping back today. 13 business days including drop-off day. It did spend 5 business days in post-grading, which seems unusual.

Damaging a bunch of cards would be a diabolical way to slow submissions 😂

My card was a Montana Rookie. An SGC 8.5 that was near flawless but the slab was scratched badly. Looks like they cut the edge of the border or did the damage with whatever tool was used to pick up the card.

They were responsive and sent a return label and they have the card in their possession. Waiting to hear back from them.

I'm sure SGC will make it right for you. I'm sorry you have to go through this on your card. Grading is always a risk these days.

Update:

SGC literally just called me. They said it was actually something inside of the slab and not on the card. They reslabbed it at same grade and are sending back. I will say that SGC is much better at communication than PSA.

Collectors will quickly "fix" that problem. Soon SGC Customer Service will be just as non-existent as PSA. Just give them a few months.

On a brighter note, glad your card is okay and that SGC made it right.

I submitted a 20 card order with SGC at the National and just got them back today. That's 23 days elapsed from drop off to arrival at my door in the UK. That's not too bad. I'm pretty pleased. Overall the grades were as expected - some were even a little better than I expected

Has anyone else noticed a trend for SGC moving toward PSA's lengthy lag times? I sent in a few vintage cards three weeks ago, and they have yet to show "Received" for my order, although they did call about two weeks ago to upcharge me for one card.

Yup. They have slowed way down. PSA took a big chunk of their graders away to fill their own demand.

Based on what I'm seeing and thinking, you might be one of the last ones to get decent service from them for quite a while.

2 card order still in Received status after 3 weeks and a 4th week where they didn’t mark it as Received for an extra week beyond when it was delivered. Definitely moving in the direction of As slow as PSA.

May I ask what it was that required the expert?

I just sent 40 to SGC. Received 10/31. Will see how it goes. I saw that SGC was down 69% YOY last month while PSA was up 124%. Collectors is trying to kill SGC IMO and are gutting their staff.

Possible conspiracy theory (but it may be reality??)...

Hate to say it, but if they are working to eliminate the demand for SGC (with the intent of making the brand disappear) what's the most obvious thing they can do?

How about giving out grades that are demonstrably lower than what the cards warrant? (That topic is talked about every single day.) It's a two-fold solution, as submitters will be so pissed at the bad grades that they will refuse to send any more cards to SGC.
And what will their next move be? How about resubmitting the cards to PSA to get 'proper' grades...which will generate more revenue (off of the same cards they paid SGC to grade) for the PSA mother ship.

Truth is stranger than fiction.

I have thought this same exact thing and do believe it is true.

Also.... they have removed SGC from all regional card shows. This was the method by which a huge chunk of SGC's customers would submit (to avoid potential damage/loss in shipping). Since they've enacted this wonderful collector-friendly policy, SGC's submissions have plummeted.

They are squelching SGC on purpose, and will soon issue a statement something like.... "Due to dwindling customer demand, Collectors has made the decision to disband SGC, blah blah blah."

They intentionally create the problems, and thereby remove the vintage card collector's only viable option. Not the kind of company I would ever support.

The last THREE subs I sent to SGC were all returned ungraded. All cards that they've traditionally graded. Obviously, I'm not subjecting myself to any more of the same. I understand that PSA has shaken things up quite a bit over there since the takeover, but one of them needs to notify submitters about what - if anything - SGC is still grading. I won't hold my breath. Communication is way down the list of strengths for both parties.

What were they? Photos?
