It's no secret that I don't know much about hockey or hockey history, but I really like the cards. And when I knock a card off my list I enjoy reading about the player. Like this 1955-56 Parkhurst Georges Vezina who was a member of the original class of nine inductees to the hockey hall of fame in 1945. I didn't even know there is an award for the best goalie each year in the NHL. The Vezina Trophy. I don't even need a price guide to tell me that this gum stained card was worth $16. Five more cards needed for this set.

Next two hits 1951-52 Parkhurst including #81 Max Bentley HOF 1966 and 1954-55 Parkhurst #65 Johnny Bower (with the Lucky Premium back) rookie card HOF 1976 and two time Vezina Trophy winner. I admit I had to come off my wallet a little bit for the Bower RC.

Final group of 1957-58 Parkhurst cards takes me down to needing five more for my set. #2 Ed Chadwick didn't have a great NHL career but that sure is a nice card, #3 2006 Hall of Fame member Dick Duff, then Bob Pulford who was a long time player and NHL coach HOF 1991.

Thanks Irv.
Yes, to me getting the Topps box seems like much more fun to open than an OPC box. The thought of spending so much more money and possibly getting just one very off center Lemieux and one Gretzky in the OPC box didn't make sense. The Topps box gives me certainly 2 and more than likely 3 Lemieuxs and Gretzkys. My chances of pulling higher grades are in the Topps box as well. Having said that, it would be a lot of fun to pull a high grade Gretzky and Lemieux in OPC. Last edited by goldenage; 02-27-2021 at 04:25 AM. |

![]() Just had to have eBay intervene and repay me due to another seller jerking me around by not sending me a card. I also received, today, yet another card that wasn't as described, or the same card that was in the sellers scans. It is a Pierre Turgeon RC. The scanned card was perfectly centered and had the obvious OPC rough cut. The card I received today was OC like 70/30 and had very clean cuts. At least in this case the seller is going to try to correct it as he said he had about 10 of these and said he likely just put the wrong card in the wrong mailer? (We'll see?) The seller of my Larry Robinson RC refunded me 50% of the total cost, including shipping, which I agreed with so at least that one didn't turn out too bad. Anyways, these arrived today on time, and without issue, so maybe things are looking up? ![]() Just a mishmash of cards with a bit of a lean towards Fleury who I have been purchasing lately. (more on the way)

Look what showed up yesterday:
![]() I can't seem to find the post now but I thought this was stolen out of my mailbox last year. It showed as delivered but I had nothing. Apparently it was delivered to a neighbor who marked it as wrong address and gave it back to the postal worker. Must've been kicking around the local post office for five months. Made my day.

Nicely centered 67 Orr with no white dot near his right knee pad and no white specs in the purple background (or whatever color that is).
I have a 67 Orr without the white dot or white specs also. It is a higher quality card in my opinion. Great pick up. Was it ebay ? Sorry I missed it. That's one I would have bought to get signed. |

interesting how there is a period after Phil on the Esposito Line card. As if an abbreviation for Phillip. I don’t ever recall seeing it done on any of his other issues, either Topps or OPC in years before or since. I wonder why they did just one card?

Same. I had a little trouble finding one centered for the price I wanted to pay but this one, although not perfect, was pretty hard to pass up.
Most likely an uncorrected error I assume?

Just back from PSA. Razor sharp corners and edges but a few small surface issues take it down to a PSA 2. Can't complain about this one as they are impossible to find and when you do they are in bad shape. Happy to add it to the PC.

I attended the "Philly" baseball card show this past weekend. Dealer had these New York American cards in a binder for $100. Negotiations netted me the hockey cards and a needed baseball card for the asking price so about five bucks each for the matchbooks which I thought was a good price (even though I don't really collect them).

Yzerman back from PSA, and the Trottier 2nd year was at a local card shop in Minneapolis.
Had to pick it up, as his son (Bryan Jr.) was a Junior Resident on the Internal Medicine service at the U of MN years ago. The LCS had a huge box of PSA-graded Trottier that was clearly a PSA Registry set at one time, as well as other Islanders players.

Great stuff everyone! Here's a few cards I sent to SGC a few weeks ago and were returned to me yesterday. Lots of fine grades, super happy! Excited to add "rookie cards" of Stacy Peralta, Snake-Eyes, Storm Shadow, Megatron and Deadpool to my collection LOL! Last two photos are of a Jay Adams Memorial Service Booklet I picked up from ebay.
