Continuing from Paul's (T206Collector) popular thread, which included Brian's great Checklist,
the "260 T206 Cards - The Half Monster" was a lot of fun (and informative). Let's play the same game with the 76 subjects in this set that represent HOFers. The rules are: (1) show a T206 HOFer card from your collection each day. Only one HOF subject per each post. Multiple cards of this same subject with various backs is certainly acceptable. Do check-out that your HOFer has not already been posted in the thread. Also, include a story if you would like. (2) you are allowed 2 posts within a 24-hour period. I will start this Show with my 2nd favorite T206 HOFer, Eddie Plank from Gettysburg, PA. If you have not visited Gettysburg, I highly recommend it. It is an amazing part of American History. Walter Johnson (portrait) is my all-time favorite T206 HOFer card. Great idea! I'll do my very first T206 card of all. Number 1 of hopefully 520 soon.
Bought at the 2013 NSCC with great trepidation. Having the pedigree from one of the Greats in card collecting is the icing on the cake. 09003.jpg

This may be my only chance to post, as I'm not a T206 collector.

In my first batch of vintage cards, and if I were to ever have to sell my whole collection, this would be the single card I would hold onto.

This is my favorite T206 out of the 100+ in my collection. I sold it once (on here) and then wound up seeing it listed for sale in the B/S/T at a later date. Since I was feeling "seller's remorse" from the time I shipped it away, I purchased it immediately upon seeing the sales post.

Bender Portrait
My first T206. Purchased ~20 years ago right here on Net54 (well the old version anyway), sold at some point, and then repurchased on eBay some years later! Last edited by T206.org; 05-22-2020 at 07:18 PM. |

The first pre-war cards I owned were T206s of Tinker, Evers, and Chance. I bought them out of ads in hobby publications in the 70s/early 80s. For a long time they were in a little display frame.

My first T206 was a Joe Tinker hands on knees Sov 150. I traded it away a long time ago. At the same show I got a T213-3 Chance port that I sold a long time ago and got back a long time ago. Here's a Chance port I picked up a few months back... For some reason Tinker hands on knees is hard to find in nice shape, so I'm still looking for at least one.

The key, if possible, is to always pick up a T206 Hall of Famer before they become one. I got this one for common pricing before he was elected.
Bill Dahlen, anyone? (although it has been a long time since he was a mere commoner) Brian |

Thankfully Jack Chesbro has a card in the T206 set, otherwise Hall of Fame collectors would really have to scramble to nail down a card of his during his playing career.

The only T206 cards that I have are a partial Cubs team set that I assembled when I was a teenager in the mid 80's. It didn't seem like it then but they were dirt cheap compared to now.

Thanks, Ted, I only see 1 Huggins port on PSA's pop report for 1910 Coupon, and it's a PSA 2, so it must be the one you have.
There are 2 listed on SGC as a portrait, and 5 that are not broken down by pose. There are 2 3's on their list of 5, so this one that I have must be listed under those. I got it at auction over 10 years ago. After the auction, someone started a thread on here asking who in the world would pay that much for a Huggins T213? Any grade of 2 or 3 for these is high grade.

The T206 set has so many great looking cards, it is easy to overlook some. Here is Addie Joss pitching...it is just a neat card that doesn't get the fanfare that even, in comparison, his portrait card does.

Vic Willis got a hit once in every 6 at bats, both during his career and his last MLB season with the Cardinals in 1910. I guess that qualifies him for a T206 card with a bat in his hand.
