The first LDS/Mormon a well as the first Utah-born player in the Major Leagues. I have never seen another example of this card before, although I have seen 2-3 copies of the Dick Bayless card from the same set of over-sized postcards.
![]() I also love this Rose Co. postcard which is the only "individual card" of the real "Moonlight" Graham of Field of Dreams fame, even though there are a few known copies of it in existence (how many? I have no idea but I have a hard time imagining there being more than 5-6 total copies known) ![]()

Here's a strange one, which may be unique: 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings photo disk. A little larger than a Colgan's. Made of cardboard, but enclosed in a metallic ring. Looks like a pin, but there is absolutely no evidence of any kind of pin backing. No evidence of an attachment of any kind, for that matter. What the hell do I have here??

Thanks a lot Derek! Guess you'll post your Campy for the "show your rarest Campy card"?
Ken - I've been looking at vintage stuff for decades and have never seen that. I did a quick search and found the image was used here: http://ourgame.mlblogs.com/2012/06/ The images are the heads from the Peck & Snyder card. A Google search seems to show that every image of the team, just contain the starting nine except the P&S. Like your cool round piece Ken, they leave out the 'substitute' player - Dick Hurley who didn't play at all with the team. Love it. |

Cool, thanks for that link, Peter! It definitely is the same piece. I won it in REA about 3 years ago (maybe 4), and they believed it was the only one they had ever seen. And they weren't sure what it was, either.

Dixie, I've long wanted a Red Sun card for Hub Perdue, nice. Very nice. I have 2 of his red border Old Mills, his autograph, a couple of white borders, a Fatima, and one CJ... I met his grandson, who let me look at some of Hub's stuff. A letter from Roosevelt, a couple of Conlon photos with back stamps...
I think that this is much less plentiful than is generally perceived. ![]() |

I learned of the book about Perdue about a week ago, hope it arrives in the mail soon. I've not seen a copy yet. And I wish I had spoken with Simpson before publication. Hub's letter from Roosevelt was on Governor of New York letterhead, it was just after the presidential election and before inauguration. He was thanking Hub for working for votes in middle Tennessee. For a time Hub was the County Clerk for Sumner County, Gallatin is the county seat. I was in Rotary with a fellow who knew Hub years ago, and was friends with his grandson. He took me down to Sumner County to meet him, and that's where I saw the stuff. This Rotarian's father had played in the minors in the 30's. They had some interesting baseball stories.
Hub considered his best pitching effort an opening day complete game shutout of the New York Giants; he out-dueled Christy Mathewson. He was annoyed that the next day's papers had virtually no coverage of his great pitching. Instead, the papers were full of another event that happened the middle of April, 1912... the sinking of the Titanic. Hollar at me if you think of parting with that Red Sun card, please sir. |

picked up the black legs a few days ago & the Huntley & palmers just now - don't have either in hand, not sure how rare either of them are but both are my oldest (same year I think) and I think rarest.

I showed this one off on a different thread a few weeks ago, but, for what it's worth, I have a M113 that doesn't appear on ANY checklist and for which I've never seen a second copy. It pictures Vic Saier; I picked it up at the Parsippany, NJ National back in 1983. For the record, it's not for sale; the last time I posted this one, I got some interest, but no - I'm still trying to complete the M113/M114 set.
Yes folks, I'm insane. |

Definitely one my favorite postcards. I have images of 10 different (including my own) and you would have to assume that there quite a few more out there.

Would guess closer to 30-50 of the Ruth team rookies out there. My most valuable postcard and least rare.

Like Kevin said, I have seen at least 10 different ones over the years and seriously doubt that represents a majority of all of them in existence. There are many tucked away in private collections as well as others still needing to be discovered by hobby people.
Great postcard none the less. Easily one of my favs. |
