I hate to be that guy, but I can't figure out why this Cobb isn't a 4 or a 4.5. Great looking card.

Thanks! Looks like there is the slightest of staining on the back...not very noticeable.

SGC did the same thing to me! That card is really sharp. I'm sorry, I see worse cards, with much worse stains, and I wonder how some of mine are only 30s. Still, SGC is still the most consistent IMO.

I agree, the grade doesn't do the card any justice, but technically SGC got it right.

Works for me, if the grade was higher I probably couldn't afford it!

Eh, I don't know about that. SGC specifies that staining is more noticeable in SGC 40 condition. Still, a great looking card.

Yeah... That's my biggest problem with them. Their grading doesn't match their standard. They are much tougher than what's published. I can only assume that this helps when they 'miss' something. I know my last submission had lots of 30-35 that look better than half of my 40s.

+1. I totally agree Erick. The really strange thing is, I've seen at least 3 SGC 50's, with Polar Bear backs and the whole card has been stained up. Now I know that was normal and expected to happen because Polar Bear was scrap Tobacco, but to make an exception for that is not completely fair.

Woooot. Got my first Cracker Jack and it was pretty cheap. It is a little bit of a beater but no creases ruining the majority of the image; only a little white gash near his hat. Good enough for me!

Default Newest addition

217 Quinn

How sad and pathetic is my life? Not only am I excited that this is number 217 in the rebuilt collection, but it is only the third out of the 247 examples I either own or have images of that features his stamp running uphill, right side up. All the others are running upside down, downhill.

Excited about these two cards. My first t206 Polar Bear for my slow moving secondary priority Monster project on the left. On the right is a tough Bridwell e98...the last common card I needed for the set. If you have any of the last 5 I need to finish it (Cobb, Jennings, Tinker, Lajoie, Bresnahan)...let me know!!

Hi Jason - Yes, as of right now there are only 20 known player names available in Orange and there probably won't be a 21st since there have been multiples found of each of the 20. The known quantity of the Orange borders ranges from 3-9 of each player. There are bound to be a few more stuck in collections, but also the known quantity may have a few duplicates do to sales/trading. (Brian and I have been tracking these for a about 5 years or so...) --- You should search T210 Orange Borders on the board as there is quite a bit of information in some posts about them including pictures, etc.

Default Leifield

Well, my pre-war buying has cooled off recently. With the exception of Hindu backs and an occasional T205/T206, I've mostly been working on a couple post war sets. This card however, I've always liked and was able to pick one up that has the eye appeal I need.

Thanks or confirming the 20.I actually did look at the archives quite a few times that's when I first learned of the figure available. That thread does have major eye candy.I hope I can also complete the subset one day.
