Hi Leon,

LOL...yes, but despite Rich's typo, my main objection is to his statement that everyone with any level of experience agrees on this issue.

The fact is that they don't agree at all. We've heard from sellers in this thread who will not ship internationally. That's fine - they can make their own rules.

But I have been buying pre-war cards from US sellers off eBay for 15 solid years. Hundreds of flawless transactions from hundreds of vendors: some small operators, and some of the very biggest names. They have plenty of experience, but they remain open to foreign bidders and shipping.

This is not an issue where there is universal agreement...in my own personal experience I'd say about 95% of US pre-war card sellers will ship to Canada without any exception or special permission to bid required. And about 5% will not.

Cheers,
Blair

Let me know how it turns out. Because if, in fact, I don't know what I'm talking about, then I want to know who is taking all my money through Paypal, and also who is mailing me all these damn cards...

Not that I feel any need to justify what I know to be true, but just for the hell of it, feel free to check out the following few vendors I have very recently done business with on eBay...they all clearly state that they ship to Canada (some worldwide):

davidbvintage
houseofcardsmd
just_collect
tonyetrade
psagems1
buythatcard
prewarcardcollector
bigboydsportscards3
painthistorian

...etc, etc...

My position on international shipping is aptly stated in my listings:

This auction is open ONLY to US addressees unless you want to pay exhorbitant shipping costs. While many of my friends are foreign-based collectors, the rules on Paypal require me to send this item with some form of delivery or signature confirmation, you see, and USPS doesn't do that internationally except with priority registered, which is really expensive. Please contact me for further information on international sales if you just gotta have it and we will see what we can work out. Also, I do not do the customs fraud thing--US customs declarations are signed under penalty of perjury--so if you buy it from an international address expect a customs declaration at the actual purchase price. I realize that means you will have to pay your country's import or VAT, but taxes are the price we all pay for civilization.
