Default Crazy Ebay Deal - 25% UP TO $250 OFF ANY BIN PURCHASE

Posted By: Richard Simon

I could not access the Microsoft page but had my son do it for me.
I got a confirmation e mail which did enable me to enter my Live Account.
I then received another e mail asking me to click a link to activate my cashback a/c.
I could not access that linked page so my son did it for me.
I did not receive a confirmation e mail for my cashback a/c. Is that normal?
The cashback a/c is not showing on my Microsoft Live page.
Help me guys
Thanks.

Richard,

You won't receive a confirmation e-mail. It took about 40 hours for my totals to update in my Live account.

Thanks for your help. Is there supposed to be some indication of a cashback page on your Live Account? Where in Live Account do they show cashback?

I, like Richard, am having trouble finding anything about cashback on my live account page. Do the funds have to be added before you can view your cashback summary? During checkout I was directed to the page showing the total pending and total available cashback but now that I have confirmed my e-mail address it is nowhere to be found.

Looks like eBay is at 25% now based on an icon I'm seeing at the search level.

I haven't gone shopping yet to look at any specific auctions.... is there a limit on the number of purchases one can make? I'd like to try something relatively inexpensive before pulling the trigger on something bigger.

Any idea how long the deal might last?

Are there any other services you need to agree to join or pay for going forward?

Sellers ....... is there a trick if I wanted to list something that would be eligable for this program??

TIA

Matt, Richard, all - hoping you might be able to help me out with an error / problem I keep getting on this. Richard - I think this may be the same problem you were having.

I signed up for a live acount while I was at work when I took advantage of one of the coupons to purchase a card. Signing up for the account and making the purchases worked perfectly and I had a pending credit in my live account. However, since the first day I signed up for my account, I have been unable to sign into the live account from my home computer. EVERY TIME I try to log in, I get an Internet Explorer error (I think a 404 error) that says:

===============

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:
Diagnose Connection Problems

More information

===============

Now, I've deleted all cookies numerous time, added microsoft live to a safe site, pulled off my security, went to the tools, advance, etc tab and did what the trouble shooting said about cookies - and nothing works. Of course I've contacted microsoft support and all I get is an automated email that explains to me how I clear cookies! I can't find a customer support phone number or I would try that route.

If I try to log in at home - nothing. The minute I get to work, I can log in fine. I have no access to my cashback account or even the help page - nothing works when I try to bring these pages up at home.

Any ideas as to how do I fix this?

Matt - thanks for the heads up. I believe I'm on Time Warner Cable here in NYC. However, I have to admit, I have no idea what any of this is:

Updated: The cashback site was unreachable from anyone using Time Warner or Road Runner. Here is the trick I used to get it to work (cut and pasted from elsewhere):
1) Goto http://ww23.rr.com/prefs.php (or whatever redirection service is for your area). You can also find this out by typing tracert cashbackaccount.search.live.com on a cmd box and use the IP addresss of the last server hit.
2) Select disable redirection (this is the first option - web address redirection service).

Any ideas how I find the redirection service for TWC?

Thanks.

i, unfortunetly, had a bad experience doing this...i hate rebates, as they never seem to work that well for me...i bought a lot of 50 (i think it was) T206 cards over the summer. the total was about $750, and i was due back about $150. well, i paid the seller immediately, and filled-out the Cashback forms, etc...well, to make a long story short, the package never got to me (wasn't the seller's fault, he was awesome during the process, tracking the shipment, dealing with the USPS, etc.), and i never got my Cashback amount either! i eventually made a deal with the seller to just send me back the amount minus the rebate ($500-ish), so he lost his cards, i lost $150, and neither myself, nor the seller has seen the package...all in all, a very bad experience.

not sure your experience has anything to do with the rebate itself.....is it microsoft's fault the USPS lost the package?

the reason you didnt get the rebate was because they wait 90 days to make sure the transaction was not reversed..the system worked perfectly in your case.....

What this rebate that they give you is getting free money. I know they are giving refunds back. But kinda makes no sense. I can easily put up an auction have someone I know win auction. They pay me through paypal and get the money back What ever percentage they get back. I dont know if its me or is it easy money were you dont need to buy anything? Richie

I don't know how this is making fiscal sense for Microsoft, but they just extended the deal and now are allowing a maximum of 12 rebate transactions per account - that's $2400 free per person.

I've used this 5 times so far and tried to use it tonight to no avail. Spent 58 minutes on hold in chat for a Microsoft help, and they said that ebay took there discount down tonight due to technical reasons, but that they expected it to be up again tomorrow.

Mike pointed out last night that the system seems to be temporarily down.

They just recently changed the limit to allow 12 transactions per person, so I'm guessing this is just a temporary system "downage."

edited to add, the search term "d40x" seems to be working at the moment.

Microsoft had a press release this morning letting people know the promotion would continue through the Holiday season, so if it doesn't work for you right now, give it a little time, but it will be back.

Will someone please post the link? (Not the one at the top of the thread. As so many have said, there's no grey box there.) I can find all sorts of BIN deals I'd like to make at 35% off, but there's nothing to indicate that the discount is, or will be, in effect.

Or is Harvey really not there at all?

Default Crazy Ebay Deal - 25% UP TO $250 OFF ANY BIN PURCHASE

Posted By: Mike Navarro

Here's a quick how to, but sometimes ebay has it down for technical reasons. I used it earlier tonight but I understand it's already down again. The cashback percentage tends to vary.

1. Go to www.live.com.
2. Type in "Wii" in the seach box.
3. Click on the first link that shows up and has "www.ebay.com" in green next to it. It will also say something along the lines of "You might save up to 25%". This link will take you directly to eBay.
4. When you arrive at ebay, make sure you have the discount displayed up toward the top right of the page, you can't miss it if its there. Now you can buy any "Buy it Now" item you can find (that accepts paypal) and you will receive the cashback on the item. When you click on the BIN tab it will take you to another page. This page will show you the cashback that you will get. IF YOU DO NOT SEE THE CASHBACK DISPLAYED. THEN YOU ARE NOT GETTING THE CASHBACK SO DON'T PROCEED UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY FULL PRICE. Please note that the maximum amount you can get back on one transaction is $200. You can only use the cashback one time per 60 minute session. You can use it for up to a total of 12 sessions.
5. You must pay for the item using paypal within the timeframe stated in the auction. You can not pay for it in payments, you have to pay for it all at once.
6. You will get a message in your ebay inbox that says you have cashback. You open this message and click on the link and it will take you to where you can setup your Microsoft Cashback account and tie your ebay and paypal to it. Microsoft has a good FAQ on how to do that, so I'm not going to waste my time or yours by typing it here.
7. The funds will become available to you on the 61st day after you paid for the item. At that time you will have choice to receive a check from Microsoft or have them make a deposit to your paypal account. If you choose deposit to your paypal account, it's not immediate, it takes about another 10-15 days or so. I can't speak as to how long a check takes, as I took the paypal option.

Please keep in mind that it's not a discount, it works in effect like a rebate, meaning that you have to pay it upfront, but it comes back later. I repeat, it is NOT an immediate discount.

Hope this helps and is easy enough to understand.

Mike

Default Crazy Ebay Deal - 25% UP TO $250 OFF ANY BIN PURCHASE

Posted By: Jim Rivera

I typed in baseball cards and it went to 25% and worked. I tried several searches and the most I could get it to go to was 25% and a total of $200.
Just worked for me!
Thanks Matt!
