The Standard Catalog has no entries for 1897, which is where we've halted.
In 1896 the Catalog shows Mayo N301s. In 1895 there are Mayo N300s, Newsboy Cabinets, and Police Gazzette Supplements. For 1890 I have the 4 page supplement that was in Harper's Weekly, if we can get that far along. |

I'm not sure whether the Keeler and Clarke Alpha Engraving cards have ever been located but here is how they would appear. Keeler top row far left. W. J. Clarke bottom row second from the right.

I've not given up... just waiting. I'll post for 1890 unless someone else has an 1890 item they want to show... This was interesting. Once we get to the 1860s we should do it again, with items from series posted here disqualified.

1889 This was the 2nd time Harpers Weekly had a baseball image on its cover. Here's the November 9, 1889 first page, showing William Ewing, Captain of the New York Base-Ball Club. 9 1/2" x 12"... |

Harper's Weekly. Some old guys that played in some windy city on a lake in Illinois somewhere. Williamson, Kelly, Filet, Goldsmith Quest, Barnes, Anson, Dalrymple, Gore Nicol, Corcoran Piano Legs Gore looks pretty dapper there, with his white tie, and all. Cap Anson is dashing in those stripes. These guys won the National Leage in 1882, this was in the October 14th, 1882 issue of Harper's Weekly. Last edited by FrankWakefield; 05-08-2009 at 07:42 PM. |

This scorecard is circa 1870's (or 1880's).
I'm not sure, but anyhow, it's neat....scoring boxes are printed on reverse. I thought it was appropo for this really interesting thread. ![]() Can any one here please provide an accurate date of this scorecard ? TED Z |

Ted- we don't know the exact date, but it is likely late 1880's. You don't find color ones like that in the 70's.
