An Offshoot of First Amendment- The Freedom to Post
Posted By: E, Daniel
Dan, I hear you....there are interesting grains within many of Peter C's threads but a dysfunction in communicating them. You are willing to breeze through the extras to find the point at hand, but others started giving up these last couple of days because of the 'fingers in the ears - la la la la la - I can't hear anything you're saying' stage this unfortunately seems to have gotten to. |

Perhaps Peter C. subscribes to the Wildean philosophy that holds that the only thing worse than being talked about, is not being talked about. He sees that his behavior, obstinate and annoying as it may be to many on this board, gets him the greatest amount of attention, so he persists in it. Juvenile, but it does seem to work. |

E Daniel your last question is the key and I truely believe he does it because he enjoys it! Peter C. In keeping with the context of this thread way back in the middle I posted up a ticket and asked a simple question. what is it and why is it significant! (They Dan wrecked it all by showing us how smart he is) LOL You then admitted to me you didnt know what that ticket was. Now stop and think all that effort you put into thinking up all these threads wouldnt your time be better spend doing a little reading and try and get a little history lesson into the game itself? Most of us have never met but my visual picture of you is a person who pretends to have vast knowledge about baseball and in reality knows very little. But wants to be included in every thread.Take some time off the board and be a lurker for awhile . And in time you may learn something just by reading and not by posting! |

Peter, you don't have to prove everyones' worst beliefs about you so frequently. Perhaps you could buy a dog instead? |

I didn't know for sure but I guessed the ticket was from David Wells perfect game. What else could it have been... it wasn't that big a stretch... If I remember correctly, didn't Wells wear an OLD Babe Ruth hat during that game or did he wear the hat during another game??? martyOgelvie nyyankeecards.com |

It was a different game. And the umpires--or Torre, I don't remember which--made him remove it, as it was no longer a regulation cap. |

From what I know about David Wells, he's a great guy, one of a kind. |

The Yankees have tried to project a button-down, professional winning machine image at least as far back as 1930, when Joe McCarthy became manager. He made his players appear in public in jacket-and-tie. |

I think it was during the Stump Merrill(sp?) days, either he or another "officio" told Mattingly to get his hair cut! There was a minor to-do in the press for a few days and Donny was really p.o.-ed. |

On the main board, there is a thread started by Lee Behrens about the direction of our forum. It looks like the Establishment is starting to worry and the Resistence Movement is getting stronger...hurrah for the First Amendment. |

"I think that part of the problem with the posters policing themselves is that many of them have a broader thought of what the vintage baseball card forum is all about (peter C is a prime example, an extreme maybe). There is a "mission statement" at the top of the page that seem to be forgotten." |
