Phenomenal pick up Bob! Fantastic piece! I was unaware of a complete version of this sign. The two I was aware of were both trimmed. Congrats on the addition

Thanks
Thank you all
Ben, it includes Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, Christy Mathewson, Walter Johnson, Tris Speaker, Frank Baker, Nap Lajoie, Chief Bender, Ed Walsh, and Roger Bresnahan. It basically has anybody who is anybody for the time period it was created (Circa 1910's as was answered correctly on an earlier post) with the exception of Joe Jackson. That is a really beautiful piece. I can see why it would be an all time favorite. Congratulations.
It made me think of scenes in Field of Dreams where the guys were taking fielding and batting practice. |

Great items as usual guys, keep them coming. Been a good month for me some nice autos, Mantle items and this 1919 Babe Ruth Sheet Music. Thanks to a fellow board member Dan Mc. in helping me acquire it. Large, 9 X 12, period image of Ruth in his Red Sox uniform showing off his mighty swing ! Really like this image.

Probably won't be able to keep these too long, but they caught my eye and I like them a lot.
1. Really neat Shoeless Joe Jackson fan letter. Great Material. 2. Eddie Collins Vintage Decal Model Bat. Decal was professionally restored and looks amazing. 3. Jackie Robinson autographed Montreal Royals Program. Never seen another. |

I like that Jackson fan letter. I read recently that (as it's commonly known) his wife signed almost all of his signature needs except a few, but that she did teach him how to sign by tracing over his name that she signed. My fantasy is that when she got sick for awhile, that he actually signed some requests himself and that I and some other unknowing collectors actually have his signature...hey, I said it's a fantasy. LOL

Large 1891 Cornell rowing photograph by C.H. Howes.
The photo was taken June 25th, 1891, in New London, CT, when Cornell brakes the world record for an eight-oared 3-mile race with a time of 14 minutes 27½ seconds. The photo has some condition issues, which I will need to address to best preserve, but a very rare original photograph of an historically dominant crew. Picked up a ton of sports publications from the 1920s-60s (including about 30 Husker football programs mostly from the 30s and 40s) at a local auction tonight. Also got a very cool 1930 champions baseball trophy along with charms from the same championship. Got the guy's baseball bat too, a Spalding 200 Hand Turned model.

During the late 19th Century and early 20th, rowing was a very popular spectator sport, and coverage of big races would be front page news nationally.
1915 IRA Regatta (won by Cornell). Scrapbook page with Observation Train Tickets and Photos. Fans lined the Hudson River, in Poughkeepsie NY, and those with tickets could ride the observation train that ran alongside the shore during the race, keeping pace with the boats over the 4 mile course. (last photo, not part of scrapbook, is a stock image, but shows what the train looked like). 191502.jpg 191501.jpg 191503.jpg 191504.jpg IMG_3448.jpg |

Great stuff Dan. Nice big group of programs. Did you have a lot of bidding competition at the auction?

Yeah, all the local 'heavy hitters' were there, but the good thing is they are all cheap. As far as I know none of them do ebay, they just buy to collect or sell locally.
