I apologize if the Johnson has been mentioned before, I don't follow the memorabilia section on a full time basis.

These continue to be pretty rare and bring good prices, at least for some guys. A decent, but not great, condition large Mays just sold on eBay last week for $255.

I can't tell !00% from the scan, are your small Mays and McCovey pins missing the red line around the swinging batter emblem and do both large pins have the red line?

I had forgotten I had this pin, I had to look for it because it wasn't in my main pin box. It was in a lot of vintage Cubs pins on eBay a couple of years ago that I probably wouldn't have pursued if this pin wasn't in it. I am pretty certain that it was a promotional item for the 1969 set of 12 Cubs t-shirt iron on transfers that were available at Chicagoland Jewel food stores (someone told me that's where the transfers were given out, anyway). It measures 3 inches and is a high quality made pin although the back is tarnished. I included a couple of scans of the large t-shirt iron on transfers.

I ventured out of collecting pocket with this one but found it visually appealing. The 73 Bucs were in Montreal on April 15. I assume this is a Canadian issue? Has anyone else come across something similiar produced for a visiting team? I saw nothing really significant regarding this game and date.

I saw that one, too, and checked the date like you did, to find out it was a road game for the Buccos. I wonder if they were produced for a group of Pirates fans who made the trip up to Montreal for the game to identify them as being part of that group. Just a guess.

I'm not sure what I have. Not sure these are authentic. Saw these at a flea market, bought 'em all. $2/pin. Marked 1969 mlbpa, MFG in USA. Some of the teams had disbanded by this year. Jackie Robinson is with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Eddie Matthews is with the Milwaukee Braves. Others include Duke Snider, Sandy Koufax, Al Kaline, Roy Campanella, Satchel Paige, Ron Santo, Whitey Ford, Hank Aaron, Maury Wills, Robin Roberts, Willie McCovey, Juan Marichal, Orlando Cepeda and some others.

The Giants are good....never knew there were pins of guys no longer playing in 1969, but I’d bet they’re legit as well.

The Giants (along with Mays and Jim Ray Hart) are plentiful. I wonder if these were some sort of premium. They don’t seem substantial enough to have been retailed.

I ventured outside of my comfort zone, and picked up this early Pinback. It's dated 1898, and features a very early depiction of an African American Player.

I did not google or research the Greenfield Baseball Team at all.... Just liked the aesthetics and historical significance of this piece.

I’ve never seen the patent date stamped on the curl. In that era, it was usually shown on a paper label.

Not exactly Mayseum quality, but I was tickled to pick up this oddball Bob Brenly from 1979. It fits in well with my SF Giants minor league pins. I have a soft spot for BB for a number of reasons...

He lived down the hall in my freshman dorm at Ohio University. Somehow, I ended up in the "jock dorm."

He suffered through the Giants' 100 loss season of 1985 and later contributed to Roger Craig's "Humm Baby" teams.

Finally, he had a day to remember in 1986 (see article).

I picked up these two PM 10 pins yesterday and they are in pristine condition. I have placed them on a 1954 Cardinals scorecard in which these pins were “pinned” to. I suspect these pins were purchased at this game and then placed in the scorecard. The scorecard has scrapbook residue on the back which leads me to believe it was placed in the scrapbook soon after the game. The pins probably didn’t see the light of day for 60+ years.

The “crossed bat” pinbacks were produced in massive quantities in the 1950s and 1960s. For most teams, they are not particularly valuable. The Browns may be an exception, although I’m not sure. The only reason I think the Browns might be scarce is because it’s not shown in Paul Muchinsky’s pinback book and he had a very sizable collection.

The charm is definitely rarer than the more common glove/bat/ball but not exceedingly so. It might add a little bit to the pin’s value. I’m as interested as you to know if this is a rare pin or just another crossed bat...

It is not rare. And it is shown in Paul’s book. The charm is also not that hard to find. Have several pins with it attached.

The early crossed bat pins were all 1.25”. The later ones were 1.75”. The Browns were defunct by the time they made the 1.75”.

This is a pin I think is kind of interesting. "Shoeless Joe" was the novel the movie"Field of Dreams" is based on. The movie was filmed in Dyersville in 1988

I don't believe I have seen any of these posted here before, I am pretty certain they are a 1972 issue. They are 3.5" and are identically made as the 1969(?) MLBPA b&w and color 3.5" Winona, MN pins, so I imagine they were made by the same company. They are based on two 1972 Cubs team issued color photo packs, so there are possibly pins of Glenn Beckert, Jose Cardenal, Bill Hands, Randy Hundley, Don Kessinger, Rick Monday, and Milt Pappas, but I don't know what any of their catchy nicknames would be. Of course they misspelled Hooton as Hootin.

These pins are very difficult to find. The five you have are the only ones I’ve seen with the nicknames. In fact, I’ve been searching for the Santo for years. If you’re ever interested in selling the “Pizza Power”, let me know.

Never could find out the story about these pins. This is the first time I have seen the Reds pin. very nice. So I guess Shell oil didnt want to lose customers so they made pins for both. I have the other 1961 version of the yankees pin. They are very hard to find. So now that I know there is a 1961 reds pins it would be logical to assume there should be a 1962 Giants pin. Maybe Rob with his Giants collection may have one... Rob?

While scouring WorthPoint looking for unlisted 1971 studio backdrop pins for the other pin thread, I ran across a couple of interesting 1969 MLB b & w pins. The first one is a Bobby Murcer pin that is obviously not him in the picture, I'm pretty certain it is Billy Cowan who was a Yankee the first half of 1969. The second one is a 2 1/4" pin of Jim Bunning, so of the four known Phillies, Richie Allen, Jim Bunning, Deron Johnson, and Tony Taylor, the Allen is the only one that is the normal 3 1/2" size.
