Sorry for the basic question, which may have been answered somewhere in here already. Do all 1959 Venezuelan cards have the "IMPRESO EN VENEZUELA POR BENCO C.A" line in them? Or is it some do, some don't?

I wish they did, but roughly half of them do and half of them have Printed In USA. The low numbers 1-110 are easy to tell because they are gray back and the Topps are white back, but the high numbers 111-196 are the same gray color backs as Topps 111-196. There are also 1959 Venezuelan variation cards with cream color backs to make it more confusing but they are very rare. The first 59 Venezuelan card is a gray back with Impreso En Venezuela, the second 59 Venezuelan card is a gray back with Printed In USA, the third 59 Venezuelan card is a cream back with Impreso En Venezuela, the fourth 59 Venezuelan card is a cream back with Printed In USA.

I just completed a type run of the Vennie's with a 59 cream Impreza back I just picked up. Very interesting issues for the decade they were issued.

Can someone enlighten me as to why the 1977 Venezuela Nolan Ryan carries a price premium over all others in the same set? It doesn't seem to be any more scarce, even by PSA counts (even though I know it is likely submitted more frequently than lesser players).
Just thought I would get input from the experts around here. |

I have 10 Braves cards from the 64 Venz set I'm looking to trade or sell. If anyone wants details, either pm me here or email: dbesse27@hotmail.com

Crossover Advice
Hello all, I have been collecting 68 Venezuela now for about a year with distance intentions of completing the set in PSA 2 or above. I am curious as to what to do with this Nolan. Do you all think it will get MK for that mark on the back left side or should I just keep it in this grade? I don't want qualifiers and plan on keeping it for the collection. This is the highest SGC on file (there are only 3 of them total). Thank you and looking forward to getting to know you all.

Well if it helps, I don’t have him either. I figured trying to complete this set will take me several years, just happened to pull the trigger on the Nolan early. Think it’s a PSA 2 NQ?

I'm not into graded cards so I can't answer your question, but someone who sent in 1972 Venezuelans to PSA told me that they automatically graded them 1-Poor if they have any glue or paper residue from being removed from an album. It looks like your Ryan/Koosman has residue from being removed from an album, but I don't know how they would consider it on a 1968 Venezuelan card versus a 1972 Venezuelan sticker/stamp.

It's a nice card
The glue on the back is a PSA wildcard. Just not comfortable speculating what they might do with it grade wise. It's a nice looking card and an easy sell (when the day comes) with that clean a front and at least an evenly "glued" back with no paper loss. You could always send it in and pop it out of the holder if PSA doesn't give it a 2.
Several years would be an accomplishment - some of the mid and high #'s are INSANE to find at all in any condition. I am working on a Venezuelan superstar collection for about 20 years now. |

Thank you for the replies, he ships out tomorrow for PSA. I put 2 minimum and NQ. I hope that’s not too much to ask. Considering what it costs to get it done, I can’t imagine I will have a lot of opportunity to resend it back to them for grading. I have accumulated over 200 of the set of which 45 are graded 2 and above. This card would be a nice one to have as a 2!

You shouldn't get hit with an MK qualifier for the glue on the back. As Howard mentioned, there's no paper loss, which is great. In my experience, paper loss gets penalized more than glue residue stuck to the card. i wouldn't be surprised at all if it got a 2.
Great looking card regardless of the grade. Good luck, and be sure to share the results here. |

Hey folks,
Been lurking and looking at all the amazing stuff folks have. Really great stuff here! I’m newer to the Venezuelans, but like y’all I’m hooked. Got a couple back in the mail today that I wanted to share with you fine folks. Looking forward to seeing more great cards! Dan Last edited by dantrades63105; 06-03-2020 at 08:09 PM. |

Venezuelans to trade
I too am interested in building sets for the Venezuelan issues. Mine are generally in LOW grade, especially the backs damaged from being glued into albums. I have hundreds of low grade 1964s and 1966s to swap for my needs. Especially interested in making progress on 1962 & 1968. My want & have lists are:
1959: Venezuelan copyright, set of 196: Have: 2-5 7 11-3 15 18 22 24-8 30 32-3 35-6 38-40 42 45-6 50-1 53-6 59-64 66-8 72 76-8 81-2 84-5 87-8 93 95-6 103 105-6 108-9 1960: (lack of gloss on front only difference), set of 198: NEED: 2 3 5-10 13-4 16 18 22-6 29-32 34 36-7 40-4 46 48 51-2 54 57 59-61 64-5 67-70 72-3 76-9 81 83-4 86 88-92 95 102 105 108-111 114-5 119 123 127 129 134 136-8 143-4 146 148 150 153 158 160 164 174-5 179 183 185-7 189 192 194-7 1962: (Spanish backs) set of 198 NEED: 1-10 12-3 17-8 20 22-5 29 33 35 40-1 43-5 48 50-61 63 65 67 69 70 73-4 76-7 80-1 84-5 88-9 91-2 99 102-4 107 109 110 112-3 116 118 122-4 127 130-1 133 135-143 145 147-8 150 152-3 155-9 162-3 167 169-171 175 177 180-2 185-7 191-2 196-8 1964: (black backs) set of 370 NEED: 9 11 27 50 125 136 146 150 182 210 285 287 300 1966: (no gloss on front only difference), set of 370: NEED: 1 5 10 19 24 27-8 30 32-3 36 41 44 50 52 58-9 63 70 72 90 99-101 107 111 118-9 125-6 132-3 135 145 160 168 172 174 177 180 191 193 195 200 203 206 213-6 218 220 233-4 237 243 250 254 259 270 275 285 288 294 296 298 300 303 310 318 320-1 324 336 339 343 347 349 360 362-3 1967: Minor League set of 138 red backs: NEED 25 60B (blue), 62 74 89 95 107 115B Carrasquel 122 133B (has shadow) 1967 #189-338 set of 150 no borders: HAVE: 195 202-3 207-8 212-4 224 228 233-4 254 256 263 272 293-4 298 301-2 305 308 1967 Retirado #139-188 set of 50 HAVE: 188 1968: HAVE 19 23-4 28 33 36 39 46 48 57 60 62-4 75 79 88 96 106 116 128 132-5 183-4 186-7 195 199 206-7 210 212-3 217 222 226-7 229 232-3 239 243-4 248 250 253 255 258 260 262 265 267-9 272-3 279 283-6 288 293 297 301 303 309 313-5 317-8 322-4 326-7 331 333-5 338-340 343 346-7 349 353 356 1970: NEED: 15 20 39 52 58 64-5 67 71 99 109 116 120 131 145 150 174 184 190 191 202 209 222-4 235-6 255-8 262-3 265-270 272-3 276-7 279 280 284 289 291 296 298
