OT: Halladay does it
A no-no in Game 1. Only 1 walk spoiled a perfect game. Congrats!

Mr. Doc-tober throws a no-no in his first post season start....I said it at the start of the season, he is the best pitcher in baseball. As a Jays fan, i am glad for him but i wish he still played for us!

As a life-long Phillies fan.......that was unbelievable !! Almost another Perfect Game. Has anyone ever thrown 2 perfect games in a Career ? Let alone in the same season ?

The Reds are done after game one...it has to be intimidating to go into a park that ravenous and get completely dominated like that. Then know you've got Hamels, then Oswalt coming up? Take a hike Cincy...

Holy Cow, that was a work of art. I tried to explain to my ten year old son the historical significance of what we were watching, someday he will get it.

Ugh. Being on the other side of it, I can only hope the Reds decide to actually show up for the next game. That was just embarrassing...

Around here that's what we tell people in hopes that they will actually believe it. Unfortunately when you actually get to see them play for yourself it ruins everything...

Halladay is the first pitcher to throw a perfect game and a no-hitter in the same season. And he just missed a second perfect game.
There were no hard hit balls at all, and it may have been the most dominating game I have ever seen a pitcher pitch. The only tough out was the final one, and the ball traveled maybe five feet. But if you look at the replay the ball and the bat were resting against each other, and the catcher could easily have gotten tangled up and botched the play. But he kept his composure and made it. A remarkable performance. |

They are good and they made great strides this year but only in a drug-induced euphoria would they ever be considered a favorite in this series. Anything can happen but they were/are long shots @ best.

Great job by the host of the TBS post-game show going on about Don Larsen's perfect game and ending it by striking out Dal Maxvill? Dal Maxvill?? He played for the Cards 10 years later. It was Dale Mitchell. Nice job. Sheesh.

You can't throw much more of a perfect game than to strikeout the last batter 10 years into the future!

The Reds are good, just not Phillies good because of the pitchers the Phillies have bought. The Reds can't afford to buy two pitchers like Halliday and Oswalt or spend $140 million on payroll. which is twice the Reds payroll. Besides this was just one game--great performance no doubt--but I've always thought no hitters are overrated. It was one game.

I forgot the game was on and turned on TBS to maybe catch a Seinfeld rerun and just saw the last batter. What is funny is I had no idea he had a no no going. I kept thinking these Phils fans are going a little too wild over a playoff win . Nice job by Halladay.
