Just a quick note to all that this is still in the editing phase and I wasn't aware it would be up this early. There will be some tweaking of images and corrections as we approach the first day of bidding. Thank you. |

I looked late last night (11:00 PST) and it wasn't up yet, so Hal must of been hitting refresh every 10 minutes or so. You probably already saw this, but Eppa Rixey's M101-5 is Bancrofts's card. |

Hi Cat- I did see the Rixey/Bancroft photo plus a few other edits to work on. The gun was jumped because I am still learning how to use the site. But I'm glad everyone will get a chance to see it. |

If minor league cards are not considered rookie cards, then the Buck Weaver Obak card should not be listed as his rookie. |

Chris- you're right, but if you read the text I referred to it as pre-rookie. I admit I used the term loosley, partly for marketing but also because we don't really have a unanimous definition of a rookie card. You can disagree with Bancroft's M101-4 being his rookie, yet still bid on it. |

I remember that E101 Matty Hal and the PSA 8 Tom Barker Jackson! Great card for the grade. Too bad I don't have $30k lying around for that Jackson however - Barry could have hid that one somewhere else besides being Lot #1. |

Hubbell's first nationally distributed cards were issued in 1933, both by Goudey Gum. If everyone feels this is way off base, I can still edit the website. |

Joe D.... You do not think Minor league cards are rookies? Is a minor league team professional? Plus do the players get paid? I would have to disagree with you on your opinion. Minor league cards starting with Hancock from 19th century all the way up to 2007 team issued cards should be considered a rookie card of the player. Now if you were to say Derek Jeter "Little Sun" High School card was not a rookie card than that might be debatable. I thnks that Joe Dimaggio's rookie card is his Zeenut card. How about Buck Weaver playing for San Fran in 1910? The Bishop team card and Obak cabinet come to mind. |

according to becket the whole goudey set of 1933 is rookies and if you did not appear in a goudey set ('33-38) your cards are not "true" rookie cards! |

So, if we follow Joe's analysis, then a player who never made it to the big show would never have a "rookie" card. And, what if, a player who made it to the majors but does not appear on any card while in the majors but appears on a minor league card he too would never have a "rookie" card even though at one time he was, under an above definition, a "rookie"? |

but according to Joe your E221 San Fran team card and your T4 Weaver are NOT rookie cards. Buck's true rookie is the T207. Now if you want his true rookie card I'll be pleased to trade you my T207 for either the E221 or the T4. |

I will trade you my E221 with Weaver for your T207 Weaver, as long as it has a Red Cross ad on the back....I can always use a dupe....If I am not mistaking JC has a dupe E221 but it's not with Weaver.....One of my best ebay wins yet was that E221....so glad it was in the correct minor league only category...It probably would have cost me more...and I could barely afford it in the first place...(sorry we hijacked the thread a little but at least it's still about vintage baseball cards)..regards |

Paul and Cobby- we shut it down until we are ready to start. It will be back up either Tuesday or Wednesday. It simply isn't finished yet and there is much editing to do. It was launched prematurely and was creating confusion. There was even a test bid put in to see if it worked and it gave the impression that bidding had begun. I decided better to relaunch when we are ready. |
