Clean, that's what's amazing about it.

That is amazing. What a find!
Here's the Polgar. Is there any other sport/game where a woman has competed at the highest level like Juidt? Ranked 8th in the world! I thought it was only phone cards but they made 200 of these in Hungary.

I think women win the Iditarod and other sled races. Then there's Danica Patrick.

Just checked the Fischer, perfectly clean, maybe I'll grade it someday.

One of the toughest of the champions rookie cards. 1926 Spalding Champions Emanuel Lasker. This is the blank back.

I have been a poker player ever since the poker boom that happened following amateur Chris Moneymaker's 2003 Main Event upset. Women do occasionally win open tournaments at the World Series of Poker and female pros like Vanessa Selbst and Kristen Foxen have over $10 million in career tournament earnings. This year, female Leo Margets became the first women to make the final table at poker's Main Event in nearly 40 years.

I am loving this thread. I know almost nothing about chess, but it is great to see some new cards and learn about what is rare or impossible to find.

Great cards and information, everyone.

Any players you would like to see let me know. I'll dig up some scans. Here's the 3 rookies from the 1964 Matchbox labels. Sadly, with the war they've become near impossible to get. For a long time I thought Botvinnik's card from this set was also his rookie but I found an absurdly rare card from 1962.

Not a difficult card, but probably my favorite aesthetically.

Was just at a seminar Judit put on at the Mechanics Institute Chess club. It was brilliant of course

This is probably much more to do with the photography collectors than the chess subject matter, but thought this was interesting. I’ve seen some stereotypes land CDVs of Morphy get into low 4 figures but nothing like this.

The Karpov and Spassky svijets are great images. The earliest I've found are these Swedish cards from 1978-79.

It would be fun to try to get the full World Chess Champion rookie list together.
1. 1888 Goodwin Champions Steinitz.
2. 1926 Spalding Champions Lasker
3. 1924 Aguilitas/1924 Gallaher Champions Capablanca
4. 1927 Die welt in Bildern Alekhine (among other 1927's)
5. 1936 Red Band Euwe (among other Dutch 1936 issues)
6. 1962 Diez Mandamientos Botvinnik
7. 1964 Smyslov/Tal/Petrosian MBX
8. 1978-79 Rockaden Spassky
9. 1963 Ktav Fiacher
10. 1978-79 Rockaden Karpov
11. 1983-87 Pliva (Kasparov - up for debate)
After that it gets complicated. Probably easiest to say Vishy,Kramnik and Magnus all appear in 2012 FaceChess since any other cards are very tough to find.
Ding and Gukesh are also tough to decide. Maybe FaceChess maybe SLCC.
