In doing my research, I did see Dynamite issues with Topps football panels - I remember seeing some from 1975 and 1977.

What? Me worry?
Issue 47, April 1978, featured a birthday tribute to Mad Magazine. It is likely that Dynamite's circulation took off in 1978, as I have found 33 different panels, often with many multiples of each. It is by far the largest grouping I've found from any one year. In 1978, Topps took to lettering its printing sheets, A-E, for the first time. All known panels from this year are from sheets A and B, which makes it seem likely that perhaps only these sheets were made available. This makes me wonder whether the cards were shipped to Scholastic already cut or if they were cut once there. The Eddie Murray rookie is included in some B Sheet panels. Sheet A: Lemon Randle Randle Lemanczyk Gross Baylor Yount Zachry Tenace Oliver Porter Cooper Perez Cooper Perez Gross Garvey Yount Bell Tenace Wills Matlack Fairly Dawson Velez Concepcion Morales (x10) Lynn Burroughs Harrah Carter Rice Dent (x4) Lemon Ott Randle Goltz Randle Goltz (x2) Garland LaGrow Romo Waits Manning Kern (x2) Stone Sizemore Belanger Rodriguez Page Schmidt Lyle Lemon Gullett Randle Gullett Randle (x2) Jones Christenson Grich Spencer Abbott Forsch Porter Cash Perez Langford Perez Langford Valentine Stone McCovey Belanger Montanez Page (x2) Hargrove Yastrzemski Johnson Munson Fidrych Hunter Burleson Lopes Jackson Smith Kuiper Kemp Atkinson Rozema Garner Rose Garner Rose Fairly Garland Velez Romo Morales Manning (x2) Rivers Oliver May Cooper May Cooper (x17) Driessen Bowa Templeton Palmer Woods Piniella Sizemore Blanks Rodriguez Morgan Schmidt Sutton Stennett Carew Watson Ford Parker Wynegar Chambliss McBride Nettles Bando Nettles Bando Blyleven Fingers Alexander Reuschel Griffey May By far, 1978's A sheet has the greatest number of cards which can be ID'd on existing Dynamite Panels than any other in any year. Of 132 cards (including 11 DPs), all but 24 are respresented. The only cards on the A sheet not currently known to exist on a Dynamite Panel are: Cey, Winfield, Brett, Thormodsgard, Murcer, Singleton, Barr, Geronimo, Foli, Moskau, DeJesus, Candelaria, Trillo, Borbon, Boone, Jefferson, Orta, Montefusco, Niekro and Sutter. B Sheet: Otis Jones Bonds Murray Mayberry Scott (x2) Torrez Chalk Lonborg Kusick Remy Howe Krukow Russell Moore Bonham Moore Bonham Rhoden Flanagan Randolph Bibby Hernandez Campbell (x2) Cruz Tiant Soderholm Fisk Carlton Bench (x3) Bair Hobson Veryzer Poquette Lopez Ault Henderson Thornton Cowens Cabell Stanhouse Wilcox John Zahn Lerch Guidry Lerch Guidry Hendrick Leonard Cromartie Richard Cedeno Kranepool Robinson Stein LeFlore Rudi DeCinces Lezcano |

My guess is Topps cut the panels as they were "pushed" into the magazine. Printing plants for magazine may not have been able to set up to configure pushed inserts.

Issue 59, April 1979, featured Christopher Reeve as Superman and skater Lynn Holly Johnson on the cover.
Of 18 identified panels, all originate from the E and F sheets, making it a possibility that only those sheets were used by Scholastic that year. Issue 73, featuring John Schneider on the cover, was the June, 1980 issue. For some reason it took until the summer for Topps cards to be included. No idea why for the only time they delayed so long into the year.
I could only find 10 panels from 1980 - perhaps circulation dipped? With such a small sample size it's impossible to tell. All panels I did find were, as with 1979, from the E and F sheets. E Sheet: Capilla Nicosia Lopez Solomon Wockenfuss McCatty Devine Lavelle Romo Riccelli Auerbach Honeycutt Carbo Paxton Allenson Doyle Tolan Crowley Barker Cox Diaz Pruitt Narron Tidrow F Sheet: Moffitt Bochy Rau Niemann Rau Niemann (x2) HR Leaders Red Sox Future Stars K Leaders Royals Future Stars SB Leaders Padres Future Stars Stoddard Sample Boisclair Chamberlain Boisclair Chamberlain Ripley Augustine Hausman Freed Hausman Freed Scott Kaat Checklist 364-484 Dodgers Future Stars Checklist 485-605 Checklist 606-726 Coleman Cardinals Team Hassler Twins Team Travers Brewers Team |
