A movie I can occasionally quote is Major Payne. "Do I need to tell you the story of the little engine that could, again?" My wife will quote, "Johnny, I can't feel my legs! Charlie, you ain't got any legs!"

I have not seen or heard about The Verdict. But I have seen Cool Hand Luke, and Butch Cassidy. My dad always talked about The Hustler.

Tonight my wife said she never seen Butch Cassidy and would like too.

My mom recently asked me if I knew the title of his racing movie, but I haven't a clue.
re: Butch Cassidy... just coincidentally we were out last night at a restaurant that has some Bolivian items on their menu which led to a round of some funny quotes from the movie.

Oh, watch The Verdict. You have my money back guarantee on it. Newman was nominated for best Actor but lost to Ben Kingsley for Gandhi. Newman was robbed. The tried to make up for it the next year by giving him BA for The Color Of Money but his performance in that doesn't hold a candle to his work in The Verdict.

BTW..his racing movie is Winning which is also the name of the documentary centering on his long involvement with racing. Both are worth watching.

The Verdict is an awesome movie. In my top 10 for sure. Newman, Jack Warden, James Mason are all superb. Even the Irish judge is good.

I've always thought it was the most perfectly cast movie I've ever seen.

Good point. Forgot Charlotte Rampling. She's great too.

The Verdict with Paul Newman is back on Max. I believe it's his best role. His courtroom summation is one of the best pieces of acting prowess you'll ever see.

Speaking of Paul Newman. Saw Cool Hand Luke recently. Hadn’t seen it in decades. Great performance in that one.

Last night was the first time in a month that my wife and I could watch a movie (last movie we saw was on July 4th, in theaters). Before that might have been another month. Anyway...she came to me and asked to watch Butch Cassidy. Remembering this thread I recommended The Verdict. We started the film and she said, "I didn't want to watch old men, I wanted young attractive men." LOL

Anyway, it was a great movie. My wife was very tense, feeling very bad for the whole situation. We finished the movie at midnight. Thanks for the recommendation.
