Just a visible bump, but not one that you should be too concerned about, or feel the need to visit a doctor.

I would love to add some more yolks to the list, especially those who are beginning or are just a little ways on their EGGS journey.

I saw that the below was accidentally posted to another thread, so am adding it here and to the EGGS list. Mother Hen is always on the lookout for errant EGGS posts.

Finally got around to counting my eggs ((251))
Having obtained all the HOFs, SPs, and cards that are least a 2 or above from the regular set. I found I have no real want to go after the remaining commons. So not complete set or 400 for me. Still my favorite set of all time.

Nice John. Your 251 EGGS will have a nice place to nest upon the list.

I'm at 359. No Hoblitzell, Matty, or suffered. Funny, in 1975 my set was complete. A number of variations have been added since. Any extra points for having the first Hindu reported in the hobby? (1974)--Rich Egan was the keeper of the master list back then. Correspondence with Lionel Carter, Egan, etc found them initially dubious. My "scanner" back then was a Canon camera with film in it. Had to send them prints to convince then there was such an animal as a T205 Hindu.

So cool that your set has been intact for almost 50 years. And no wonder why Hindu cards are so tough to come by...you captured your Hindu's soul with your camera, and thus all the smart T205 Hindus subsequently went into hiding!

How nice of your sibling. Just shows you that not all brothers are a pain in the asterisk. I will hang another star alongside your score.

Hi all. I just started my T205 set in earnest last month. Thanks to a few BST buys I'm at 60 cards, almost all ungraded. Looks like my EGGS is 65 thanks to the WaJo which I've had for a while. Fun idea, I'll try to remember to update my progress here. Oh, and if anyone has dupes they'd like to sell, I'm interested!

Thanks

Hey Brian,

Just getting around to checking out this thread and counted my holdings. You can put me at 29* EGGS points for now. I just starting to pick up more T205s so hopefully I will be able to chime in more in the future as well.

Thanks.

I guess better to be missing a couple of Hoblitzells versus Cobb and Young, for example. Because you already have a couple of Hoblitzells...how many Hoblitzells does a person really need, anyhow?

That’s an excellent question BP.
For most sets I don’t collect variations because they (to each his own) don’t excite me.
Having a fully different pose? Sure thing.
Having a stray dot /stray line or an asterisk or something ? No thank you.

But for the awesome EGGS quest, I find myself wanting those slight imperfections and changes. Ive cracked into a few of them which has prompted a decent EGGS tally. But these are hard to find in T205. Everyone is chasing about 10-12 cards from the carton.
I’ll still try but I haven’t added a new yolk in a long time.

I finally took some time and went thru all my T205's to see if I had any of those "speckled eggs"

I believe I may have found 3...

Graham, George - Rustlers w/blue signature

Hoffman, Danny - yellow 2nd base, no yellowish stripe in background

Miller, Dots - middle initial 'D' with partial 'B'...possibly 2 of them

Let me know if these appear correct

Thanks

I have laid 3 speckled eggs in your roost. Not an expert on these variations, but they seem alright...if someone thinks otherwise, let us know, and I will snatch one (or more) away like the wily fox I am not.

I've added 15 cards since my last post. I've got some traction now on HOFers, including Young, Wallace, Bender, Tinker, and Chance. As best I can tell, EGGS at 90 now. Here's a couple of my latest additions, courtesy of BST (thanks Jay) and LOTG.

I picked up 9 more during the last two weeks, up to 84 cards total now I believe. EGGS of 106 thanks to a couple of big pickups including Speaker and this Matty from a board member.

Good looking Matty, and as a bonus it appears nicely in focus. 3 digit EGGS for you!

i have 149 out of a possible 151 T205 Cubs with multiple back runs. The only 2 cards I am missing from the subset are the Kling and Pfiester Hindu cards.

Only need to knock the Hobby no stats cap off the Kraken, Millerd33, to vanquish the beast.

And Ken, when I have some time I will figure out your Kraken number. As per strict Kraken rules, your Master Cubs collection will have a relatively small numerical number, but I will note the masterliness of your Cubs group. I remember when you just started on it, I mentioned it might be impossible for you to achieve...you have almost proven me wrong. Find those 2 Hindus!

Clarification, are you calling T205 an EGGS number or a Kraken number?

EDIT: nm, I figured it out when I saw your other thread. Kraken is the E90-1 set.

Brian, just landed a Chase left ear showing, so I guess that ups me 3 points.

Ahhh....the danger of running two similar threads of this type. I actually meant 'knock the Hobby no stats cap off the Tiger Shark's dorsal area', because a Tiger Shark lays EGGS.

I had to look that up, I am no marine biologist. And John, I added 3 points to your Tiger Shark number.

A delectable T205 card depiction to whet the collector appetite for EGGS.

38 more cards added in the last few months, so I'm up to 122, and add another 48 to my EGGS (I think) so my best guess is that I'm at 154. New HOF pickups include Wheat, McGraw, Jennings, Collins closed mouth, Wallace no cap, Marquard, Huggins, and Duffy. I'll try to add some scans when I have time.

EDIT: I did the math and my EGGS is actually 163. I had missed a bunch of 2's.

Nice! Good luck if you decide to pursue the asterisks.

Fun to see some rocketing up the EGGS list...keep it going.

Here finally is the long-awaited thread that collectors can post their progress on the T205 set. I like to think of the T205 as the Gold Standard of Tobacco cards, and the set has inspired many to pursue it over its 111+ years of existence, due to its great design, colorful look, gold borders, awesome lineup of players, bio writeups on the back, different brand advertising, and various levels of scarcity to tempt those who like a good challenge when collecting.

This thread addresses that challenge by assigning EGGS (Elite Gold Gilded Set) values to individual cards in the set based upon both their scarcity and their popularity. This endeavor has truly been a collaborative effort - in case you missed it, here is a link to the previous thread that garnered plenty of input from the community that shaped the final EGGS values:

https://net54baseball.com/showthread...0225&highlight

There are 221 officially recognized cards in the master set. 141 of these have been assigned a value of 1. These cards are not shown in the below listing, which highlights cards that have EGGS values between 2 and 18. When added up, the total EGGS value for a complete master set works out to 400, which as pointed out in the previous thread, is a fitting total amount for this, as the vast majority of the different brand advertising on the back indicates 400 designs.

The next post on this thread will be the running list for collectors to post the status of their T205 collection by identifying the Total EGGS value of the set they are working/worked on. This input from collectors will be maintained by me, just as I have for the E90-1 set on the Kraken thread.

For the purposes of this list backs were not considered when calculating each cards value, to keep things on a relatively simple level. There are also 8 variations that have not been recognized as widely within the hobby:

Collins, Eddie - closed mouth w/yellow elephant

Graham, George - Rustlers w/blue signature

Hoffman, Danny - yellow 2nd base, yellowish stripe in background

Hoffman, Danny - yellow 2nd base, no stripe

Miller, Dots - middle initial 'D'

Miller, Dots - middle initial 'D' with partial 'B'

Snodgrass, Fred - missing decimal point on .405 batting average

White, Doc - no quotation marks on Doc

I have decided for this reason not to assign values for these 8 cards. Collectors can indicate with their post how many of these cards they have, and I will post Speckled Eggs (asterisks) after their point total. For example a collection with value of 237 that has 3 of the above less recognized variations would be listed as: 237***

Below is the values of each of the 80 cards that have a value of 2 or more to figure out your total EGGS amount (As a reminder the 141 other cards in the official master set that are not shown have a value of 1):

Cards with EGGS value of 2:

Another master set for the top of the list. Thanks for sharing, because T205 cards are special, and it's nice to see additional folks that appreciate this set.

I think I figured out how to use my old scanner with my new laptop. It's taken 4 months of trial and error. Here goes...

Not sure of my EGG/Kraken number as I mostly collect the backs.

Thanks, John, and good luck with the scanning.

In my case, I have a GT-1500 by Epson. I had downloaded the software from a 3rd party website and it did not work. Today I found the software on the Epson site. It works with auto-settings only, which is okay with me.

I command that your weekend chore is to figure out your EGGS and Kraken numbers and report back the results.

Brian (this hobby is fun, but only after you do your chores. And no dessert before dinner.)
