First 1933 Goudey Ruth known reprints?
Question--anyone know when 1933 Goudey Ruths were first reprinted, or are these cards be produced in China? Dealer claimed these were found in an attic and authentic--but someone did a fairly good job of aging--thanks!

I am not sure of the answer but since this is right up the alley of our forum it was moved here.

Attic find
He may have found them in an attic right where he left them the night before! LOL

i see nothing "good" about those! never seen such bizarrely rounded corners and wide margins either?

I mean, at least on the first one, the corners weren't all rounded and "aged" the same. That shows a modicum of awareness.

At least two of them were reprinted by Dover in the mid 70's. But those were on thin stock.

I had that dover book of reprints in the early 80's. I can't believe anyone can make one of those look remotely real?
Cue the PSA CJ gaff. |

At least the CJ would be close to the right thickness.
Other than that, none of them are even close. But a fake that would pass wasn't Dovers goal. |

Dover in 77 and again in I think 84, Renata Galasso in 1983.

attic find
The first I am aware of were in 1976 by Charlie Brooks of the Sport Hobbyist. He caused quite a stir in the hobby, as the first printing he did, were not marked reprint and on the same thickness of card stock. He later added reprint and put them on thinner stock. Occasionally an uncut sheet will still show up on ebay. I believe 2 of the Ruth cards you posted were in the 1st printing. Hope this helps, JD.

I love how some people tout “vintage” reprints as more desirable than “modern” reprints!
Weird thing is that a lot of people pay decent money for them… I guess this will only increase as values go up? |

I'd really like to see some confirmed examples of these 1st gen reprints.
