WANTED: 1938 NX5 American Sweets
I'm looking for the 1938 NX5 American Sweets boxing cards. I am willing to pay top prices for them. Yeah ... yeah ... I know there are only a handful of them out there, but hey, I gotta' try, right?
Please send me a PM if you think you can help. Thanks Picture is for display purposes only. I don't own any of these cards. |

Hi Rocky!
They're hand-cut, but I am not sure if this was done in the factory or by a collector at a later date. Also, the Leonard card (owned by Adam) is the only one to receive a numerical grade from SGC, I believe. Does this mean that this one was not hand-cut? It's all very confusing! By the way, there are wrestlers in this set as well. If you look at the image I posted above, you will see Jim Londos on the top. I also found this image online of Man Mountain Dean: |

Here is the Joe Gans card that was sold by PWCC a year ago. I usually wear the same kind of outfit whenever someone challenges me to a fight. The guy will usually take one good look at me and say "okay, you win."

Strip cards?
The more I study these cards, the more confused I get!
This is Tony Canzoneri and that nasty top edge is something frequently seen on American strip cards. Here is another: If you look at this Mickey Walker card, you'll see that it suffers from the same problem. Hmmmm ... oh wait! Huh? A freaking wrapper! So, now they can't be strip cards, right? |

And here we have the Benny Leonard card. This is the only card to receive a numerical grade, I believe. Where did the bottom border go? |

I present to you, ladies and gents, the best card in this set and the only one known in existence ... the Brown Bomber, JOEEEEEEE LOUIS!
This example has all four borders, which is great, and the yellow background was a perfect choice. I don't think this card would have looked as nice if a different color had been chosen. I'm still looking to buy! |
