Default 1926 Sports Co of America Barry Halper Collection

I read where Barry Halper had an uncut sheet of 1926 Sports Co. of America\Spalding Champions in his Auction catalog? I own a copy of the catalog and couldn't find it and have heard that there were some items that were not in it but found online only?

Is there an uncut sheet from 1925 as well? Any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I have never heard of (which doesn't mean a lot) 1925 Sports Co of America cards and only know of a few of the 1927s...
This isn't mine any longer...

Thanks. I checked it out, but there weren't any photos. An advertising sign would be neat. I'll keep looking but this is a really awesome set!

I did an article for this set which will be released next week. The company sent out a box for each subject, which consisted of 500 cards. Some, like Carey used them as something like a business card and sent them to autograph seekers through the years. I know of 3 players who did this frequently.

Default 1926 Spalding

Saw this thread, had to dig out my only Spalding. Didn't know Spalding had other years issued besides 1926.

Leon, let an old football collector help you out.
They definitely came out with them in the 1925. I had a sheet in my hand. There was a letter to HoFer , George Kelly trying to entice him to give permission to inclusion in the set. The sheet and the loose Kelly were all blank-backed, however there was a loose Jack Dempsey with a 1925 copyright date and bio! There were two football notice the art-deco style. I was contemplating buying the sheet and cutting it up, but couldn’t bring my self to do it, not to mention the price was very high.
There were also 1927s. I have three football. See scans. The script is blue and not orange.
Finally, there are three very rare blanked-backed Spaldings that were so-called promos. Red Grange (rookie), Ty Cobb(owned once by Brian Wentz), and Bobby Jones (Rookie- owned by a buddy of mine).

I saw a bunch of those blank backed Spaldings at the 2003 National and can sill see the stack like it was yesterday. Urban Shocker and Mickey Cochran were black backed as well. I thought they were not legit or something so I picked out the cards that had bios for $10 each. Got myself a nice Dempsey, Max Carey and Ray Schalk and a few others. I saw a 1925 sheet too on ebay back in 2009 or so.

Brick Muller was considered the GOAT until Forward Passer Tom Brady came along.

Put that tight leather helmet on Tom Brady's head and hand him that fully inflated awful looking football that Brick Muller is holding and see how far he can throw it!

If nothing else Tom's head would be less pretty after just a few sacks.

Only known for his college success, not as a pro. He also won a silver medal in the high jump at the 1920 Olympics. He was a major in WWII, serving at the U.S. Army Medical Center as an orthopedic surgeon. From 1924 to his death he practiced medicine including team doctor of the 1956 Olympic team.

That’s interesting. As time goes by, some of the interesting facts about some of these players gets lost. You always wonder why was this guy or that guy included in a set. Maybe one of the largest most comprehensive issues of the era.

Does anyone know if there are more than 4 different Ruth cards known in this set?
I know of a Blank back, 1927 Copyright, Ad Back, And Stats Back.

Anything is possible. After 90+ years, we know that there is still a large chunk of this set still incomplete. I don't even think we'll know the reason why the 1925 set was never issued?
