Ha! I admire your gusto. Earlier this summer I paid low five figures for a PSA 3, and I was dreading someone would start a thread about it (they did.) I personally believe nice examples have upside, so I think you did well.

I am looking to scoop up all the 1915 Cobb Cracker Jacks in PSA 1 for $800 that I can as well as 1915 Matty CJs for $225 and WaJo Cracker Jacks for $225 -- since that is what SMR says they go for. The minor Hall of Famers for $30 sure seem like a nice deal as well on the 1915 Cracker Jacks, according to SMR.

You laugh but when i was selling green cobbs on this site there were members on this forum quoting SMR prices in their counter offers. I kept saying that private sales were going for more but again SMR SMR..

Coincidentally (?) the cover story of the new SMR is on collecting Cobb.

And so began one young man's quest to preserve 1% of sales on the net54 BST.

I get that BS several times a day through ebay. I respond to most of them the same way. If that is what SMR has the card for then go buy one from SMR. I have not looked at the pricing in an SMR for years. I just get it for the pictures!

Default Green Cobb

I picked up this one many years ago for the price of a PSA 1. I don't have any other trimmed cards in my collection but I have been very happy with this one.

Pretty sure I have seen supposedly non-trimmed examples with less white boarder.

Did a little research into market bubbles. This seems about right:

Behavioral finance theory attributes market bubbles to cognitive biases that lead to groupthink and herd behavior. Other theoretical explanations of market bubbles have suggested that they are intrinsic and contagious.

Emotional and cognitive biases seem to be the causes of bubbles, but often, when the phenomenon appears, pundits try to find a rationale, so as not to be against the crowd. Thus, sometimes, people will dismiss concerns about overpriced markets by citing a new economy where the old valuation rules may no longer apply. This type of thinking helps to further propagate the bubble whereby everyone is investing with the intent of finding a greater fool. Still, some analysts cite the wisdom of crowds and say that price movements really do reflect rational expectations of fundamental returns. Large traders become powerful enough to rock the boat, generating market bubbles.

That 4 looks great - better than the 7 in the auction. If my trimmed Cobb were a Wagner it probably would have received an 8.

Here's the question in the nearer term (say within 2 yrs) will a comparably graded Green Cobb exceed a Magie error in value/sales price.

If you go into your User CP and change the default posts-per-page to 80, the bubble is shorter (and so is the clicking)

I personally think the market on Green Cobbs is a bit inflated. That means everyone thinking of getting one should get one now as they are probably about to take off .
