Question on unused 1946 World Series Ticket
I'm not a ticket guy but I picked up a full unused box seat ticket to game 4 at Fenway. What am I looking at value wise?

Looks to be in good shape. I'm thinking around $400 or so. Nice ticket!

Scott,
Not something I see often, had plenty of stubs - but not the full ticket Great Item! and the few that I have see can go higher then what was mentioned above - more or less in the Boston Area anyways, just depends on who maybe interested - maybe keep it for a bit until something similar comes up Jimmy

I would not get it graded. Plenty of ticket collectors would buy it without needing someone else's opinion.

Great ticket
Ok great it has perfs it the real deal.
I am PSA Baseball ticket consultant so my opinion will seem biased however as far as grading is concerned there two factors to consider. There are now many World Series Ticket copies hitting the market these obvious copies have little to minimal value. To get a price over a raw ticket (unslabbed) ; getting them PSA Graded will add a premium and authenticate them ( the cost would be about $60) if yours "has no creases or visible wrinkles" it could grade a EX 5 or EXMT 6. Currently there are 7 1946 Full Game 4 Tickets PSA graded EX 5 or less so yours could be the highest graded and worth more than the one sold on $450 on Heritage which had no grade just authentic. Another important reason getting them slabbed will preserve and protect them should some one handle them poorly when placed in a ,05 cent card saver. Once again mine is a biased opinion , which others will point that out , I respect their opinion , but those World Series Copies will make certain buyers a little skittish who are new to the ticket buying hobby. Obviously selling it now raw would save on fees and time so $400 would be a fair price as is raw unslabbed. Last edited by megalimey; 03-14-2017 at 01:47 PM. |

I agree with what David said about getting it authenticated. A lot if people don't like it, don't agree with it, whatever..........To each his own. I just started collecting tickets, and I want them all sent to PSA for 1) piece of mind that they are real (there are a lot of reproductions out there) and 2) protection of the ticket. It's a small investment and makes the value greater if you are going to sell it. Just my 2 cents, great ticket, good luck with it.

Not saying the seller would try to be shady....but the buyer (then seller) might be. This ticket comes up quite a bit as well, but I have the seat number memorized as a fake: http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...re+dame+ticket

for what it is worth, I do not see "a lot" of reproductions in the vintage ticket world. At least not a lot that would fool even a semi-educated collector.

I do agree with this. If you do a small amount of investigating, you will see it as legit or fake. Even after all that, once you received it, you'll know immediately from the texture, thickness, and even smell.
