Looks like it's part of the photo--like a signed photo was itself photographed, and that negative used to make prints.

The photo is a copy - but the signature is actually Ruth's - that's what I meant by real. My dad was a photographer with the Det. Free Press and and used a copy camera to create a 4 x 5 negative - which this copy was made from. The original went back to the safe-deposit box. The original was obtained by my grandfather who was also a newspaper photographer. I sold it in a Leland's auction back in the late 90's. The copies are all I have left. |
